Has anyone found a OEM style or look-a-like replacement for '89 air foam tube? mine still looks ok but I don't think it will last another 10 years.

Will this become another Unobtainium part? Thanks.

Already is. Both mine are now wrapped in black ducktape - there was nothing much left of the foam. That one you have ought to be in a museum !!

Mine did not look that good 20 years ago!

I use some bright orange aircraft ducting. Ricambi used to have black ducting on his website, but I do not see it anymore.

Mine was shedding all over the engine bay when I bought the car two years ago. Kept the wire duct, but replaced it in the car with the hose from Ricambi. I figure one day I'll try and come up with an insulation solution for the wire duct.

Aircraft Spruce has air duct in metric sizes. That's what I used on my 308GTB. Looks great, as my older car used old-school ducting anyway.

This foam hose is very fragile and falling apart easily. I am concerned getting this hose back in the car without poking holes in it. Anyone knows of a high temperature thin flexible rubber/vinyl, or something like Koolmat but thinner and flexible?

Since this hose is NLA, I am thinking about in the future, I can strip the outer foam off the hose, then use a high temp insulation foam and wrap around the wired-duct core, foam thickness is about 0.5 -0.75 inch, then make a sleeve using a thin flexible high temperature fabric and wrap around the foam insulated hose and tuck the ends into the plastic collars. I would sew a velcro strap onto the sleeve to hold everything together. This hose would look puffy more like the original, it also keeps incoming air cool, and lowers the noise. But I have yet to find something like the Koolmat but thinner and more flexible: http://www.koolmat.com/race.shtml.

I always wondered what my hose used to look like when new. I bought the plastic hose replacment from Ricambi.

Is Ricambi no longer selling it? I can't locate it on his site. For the original poster - find a good replacement now while you can spend the time looking. Mine turned to dust (literally) by 40K miles.

well, there's always ebay. Seems someone usually has a non-original replacement up for sale.
