They have real nice pieces in Mexico silver plated at reasonable prices

Italy has very nice stuff too but a lot more $

I would try a store that sells estate stuff but you'll have to haggle :)

Look in the classifieds/advertisement section of Forza. I know there's an ad' there for a bronzed sculpture; a bit pricey, though.

if you find one Randy please PM me as I'm looking for one for my house as well.

I bought a large block of sandstone to make one but I think I'm being too ambitious :(

    Hi Guys,
I'm getting ready to cut a Cavallino horse out of steel plate that's about two feet high, mounted on a flat plate base to stand free or be bolted down. I could get it chrome plated if that's what people like. I'm using a photo of the horse on the back of a new F430 as a starting point. I've attached a bitmap of the prototype CAD file to run the plasma torch from. It can be scaled to whatever size you want, but 2 feet tall was going to be my first shot, probably out of 1/4 inch plate. I can scale it up or down to any size you want, just be aware that larger means thicker steel which sells by the pound.

Tina at Bugattiart asked me to work one up for her out of 14 gage (thin) steel to hang on the wall in her house, 2 feet tall. With a simple clearcoat, I estimated it at about $75 plus shipping. The thicker plate costs a lot more since it's heavier, and I'll have to get a price on getting it chrome plated.

Does this sound like something you guys would be interested in?

I'd be interested. So a simple clear coat would show the burn marks around the edges right? I'd be up for it for 75 beans but would like to see it first.

Why not do it in aluminum sheet instead of steel?

QUESTION: Would it be good to add the FERRARI name (lettered like it is on the trunk of the car) below the horse sculpture? or on the base plate?

I'll see if I can get one of the steel wall sculptures done this week, and I'll photograph it with the torch burn marks on before I wirebrush them off. The one for my office (signed number 01) is going to be clean, clearcoated steel.

Once I talk with an electroplater, I'll get a quote out of him, cut a thicker 1/4" one, weld on the base plate, and then have it chrome plated so you can see what it looks like.

Yes, I can do aluminum, stainless steel, or any other metal.

I had a local electroplater quote on plating a 2 ft Cavallino horse with a base plate - It came to around $100 for Nickel plating, which looks identical to chrome. A lot of the items you see "chrome" plated are actually Nickel anyway. That didn't seem like too outrageous of a price.

I would love to buy a 2 foot prancing horse (Chromed ) or Nickle plated as well. Let me know how much first. I think if the price is "right" you may sell alot of them

I cut the first one out tonight, so here are a couple of pictures. This piece was simply taken off the torch and cleaned up. I could clear coat it just like this, or I can wire brush it to all silver, or take it one more step and electroplate it. For my office, I'm going all silver.

This one hangs on the wall. I also have a stand cut to weld onto the leg, and I still need to design and cut another stand with screw holes so you can secure it to a pedestal.

Any suggestions? I take criticism well most of the time.

I think it would look better using the "standard" highlights instead of those many tiny lines all over.

I think he's meaning the standard lines inside the real Ferrari horse logo :)
