My neighbor has a 2001 360 Spyder with an F1 transmission. He Stored the car in his cold garage all winter with the battery tender on and the tender went bad. The battery lost all power and froze and needed to be replaced. We put a new battery in and the car and it ran fine. The Transission light on the dash is on and the car will not go into drive or reverse. I checked the Transmisssion fluid tank and it if full. I tried to search this problem on Ferrair Chat but found nothing. Has anyone else had this problem and or does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Did the new battery you put in have a full charge. Ferraris are very sensative to low batts...
You could also try a reset. Turn the round dial under the hood off............wait a bit.

Then start car and let run for 10 mins without doing anything........then try again.

We opened the fuse compartment behind the drivers seat and found fuse number 82 in the owners manuel, 30 Amp, was blown. We changed the fuse but the new one blew out immiediatly. We checked the the F1 transmission relay number 58 in the owners manuel by carefully opening it up and there was nothing apparently wrong with it. We tried a 3rd fuse but as soon as I opened the door, which activates the FI pump, it bew again. I opend the hatch that lets me view the pump and reservior and it is very oily and dirty but no wires were frayed or exposed. Any more help will be appreciated.

This might sound crazy! Do you saw any signs of rats? This bastards can make a big mess specially with the cables. Long term storage can be a great home for this bastards.
If the car was ok and now it have a shortcut this can be posible.

Like I said before, this might be a crazy idea.

Sounds like the F1 pump is cooked! It's happened to several owners.

We did look all over for signs or rat and or mice chewings and saw nothing. If the F1 Pump is shot, can a local electirc motor shop fix it. I plan to remove the pump and hook it up to a 12 volt power supply to see if it runs. I will test for power on its plug too. The pump appears to be small and should be relativly inexpensive but I do not want to wait for parts or repairs. djastral69, can you give me the link to your previous posts on this?

Ray, reference this thread, I'm certain it will solve your issues.

It could just be as simple as disassembling your pump and cleaning the internals where metallic shavings build up and short it out. I'd give that a try before replacing it personally.

Let us know how you make out.

One of the signs of a dying or dead F-1 pump is that the reservoir becomes "oily and wet". I think that happens because the pump does keep up and regulate as well so the reservoir tank overflows.

actually that would be from overfilling as well...it'll blow through from the pressure.

First of all, check the F1 pump relay behind the passenger seat. If you dont know who to check, then jut purchase a new relay and plug it in, then replace the 30A fuse. Make sure to turn off the batery switch first before replacing anything... If the F1 transmission light will not diapear, then the diagnosis is 100% accurate - BURNT PUMP MOTOR !!!
Read all pages of my previously posted thread to get an idea of what exactly are you dealing with:

Send me a personal message if you need help with obtaining and installing the replacement pump.
    Cheers,

To simplify your task finding the F1 pump relay, I attach pictures that should help you finding it in the compartment behind the passenger seat.
After unscrewing the screws of the compartment cover, pull it towards the middle of the car to ease the removal.
Then you should easily find the F1 pump relay indicated by the letter "C" on the attached picture. For the 1999-2001 Modenas the relay is grey-colored Tyco V23134-B57-X203. For later years cars it may be different, but should be in the same place. Let me know if you have any problems.
    Cheers.
    Juri.
