Hi everyone. the snow is melted, sun is shining. I took my 94tr out for a spin and the passenger seat belt mouse opened correctly when my son opened the door but would not come back.
spent some time surfing chat and I can't find a thread on how to fix or diagnose. Lots on recall, mine's to old now for that, and threads on replacing with euro style manual ones.
Does anyone have suggestions on diagnose, repair etc.?
    Appreciate it ,
    Thanks,
    Daniel

My driverside did the same. I disconnected the battery waited 5 minutes reconnected and it fixed itself. Not sure if this was the answer or just luck.

Exact same thing here. They just get 'off cycle' sometimes I think, and a reset has cured mine a couple times. Hope the same for you.

Then again, it gives you an opportunity to yank the stupid things out, go manual, then tell the rest of us exactly how you did it!

Check where the seat belt returns to.. There is a switch/lever.. theat gets stuck sometimes.. Its located all the way back where the belt returns to. Fiddle with that and I bet you'll get her to move. Plus.. your car is nver too old for the recall.. If the recall was never done they will do it for free. Everything except the lap belts which are manual anyway.. They will change the upper belts, the track, buckles and ecu's. Call your local Ferrari dealer and speak with the service dept. Give them your vin and they will tell you if it was done.. or you can call Ferrai of North America. Hope this info helps

    Daniel,
There is no time limit on recalls--if yours has not been done Ferrari must repair, regardless of how long ago the recall was issued.

The seat belts are controlled by ECUs--they command/power the mouse motor to move the mouse on the track. Once fully extended the ECU commands the seat belt retractor to tension the belt. Is your belt tensioned when all the way forward? That would indicate a mechanical problem with your tensioner or the ECU not telling it to release. Easy things first:

Since your car has been down a while the system may just need some exercise. I would remove the belt from the mouse (press orange latch) and ensure the belt extends/retracts smoothly (several times). Then I would manually unlock your mouse from the track (press black button on fwd end of mouse) and make sure it slides freely along the entire track, in your case making sure it moves all the way forward. Each side has a separate ECU located under the fwd panels on the center console. I would next check the passenger side connection and/or swap ECUs to see if the issue follows to the drivers side. Beyond that there is an "A Station" in the forward position and a "B Station" in the aft position on the track--I have not investigated those however your A station may have a mechanical or electrical issue, I would look there next (especially electrical). The B Station is located behind the trim panels on the luggage shelf.

My passenger side occasionally retracts prematurely before the mouse has taken the belt fully aft and locked. When it does that I can't simply reset by opening the door (gearbox in neutral), I have to disconnect the belt, let it retract, then switch the key off/on to get the mouse moving again, then reconnect belt. I have swapped /replaced ECUs with no help so I believe I have a gummed up retractor. Just further proof these systems can be troublesome. Let us know what you find.

Hello Daniel; I purchased my 91 Testarossa a few years back & had the "mouse trap" seatbelt recall done by a Ferrari Dealership. I believe that yours would qualify for the "Factory" recall.....Mark

Ditto on the recall. Call local dealer or FNA. If the recall has never been done, it is good forever. I wouldnt wait to long as my fear would be they will eventually run out of parts. I had mine done last year, and even the new parts were bad. Had a sticking switch in the lt side retractor. The wiring diagram is vague. It doesnt show each seperate switch (3 in each retractor) and doesnt show individual switches in the console reels (2 in each). I had to manually probe each wire at the ECU to figure out I had a sticking switch. If there service info was more detailed like most manufacturers, it would have been much easier to diagnose. Mine was stuck in the forward position. The switch at the rear of the belt track was sticking. This switch is not visible (the other two are) it signals the ECU that the belt is in the rear position. I had to use a very small common screwdriver to probe down in the track to manipulate the switch to get it unstuck
