Can anyone please help me locate the oil temp sender on my '02 360 spider. I feel it's gone bad. The temp shoots up all of a sudden to the red light and then back down again. I can't seem to locate where it is, nor in the shop manual. Has anyone ever changed one and could you give me some pointers on how to go about it?
    Thanks,
    Alex.

It's on the left side of the gearbox near the output shaft. A loose electrical connection either at the sensor or at the connector behind the driver seat can give you the same problem.

Would you be able to tell me exactly where behind the driver's seat the wire is located and is it identified?

If I recall correctly the sensor wire is brown which goes to connector 26H in diagram. And I think the 12H side of the connector housing contains the female sockets. It is the integral brass spring tab of the female socket that keeps a positive contact to the male blade. Unfortunately this spring tab breaks often. You need to look at it very closely to see if it is broken or not. If this spring tap is broken then the male blade just kind of sits inside the socket making intermittant contact or no contact at all.

Thank you very much for the info. and the wonderfull diagram. I will definitely try looking at the contacts, as you said previously, before changing the temp sensor. I will post my findings.

You are welcome. BTW, the oil temp sensors are relatively cheap. And some of them are bad directly from the parts bin. Best to check it with ohm meter and a cup of hot water.
