I delayed buying a car lift until now that the dollar is gone up. The same lift that was $1900 in June is now $2600 to $2800. I know the Canadian dollar went down, but I think this might be a supply and demand thing as well. Anybody bought a lift recently in Toronto. Just curious on what type and where you got it?

Start looking for used ones. Garages will be going out of business and they'll be selling them off cheap. A friend of mine bought one a few years ago from a shop that closed for $800, it was only about a year old.

I thought steel went up? I tried looking for a used lift for 4 months now and nothing (only two post lifts available, which are most common in automotive shops). What type of lifts do you guys have and where did you get them?

The more I'm looking the more I see all the distributers in Toronto have the same increases. Two guys didn't have any lifts left and can't get more until end of December. Has anyone heard of Daytona Lifts?

I ended up purchasing a lift from Daytona Products in Brighton. Very nice guy & reasonable price. Same lift as all the other lifts from China (except ADG which I found a little nicer but more expensive). Got it delivered Sunday only to find that the posts were missing 9 of 10 locking position blocks! He is welding new blocks on new posts and will be ready Thursday.
My question is, have you guys had bad experiences with these four post parking lifts and with what manufacturer/distributor did you buy from?

The one from Montreal and the Carlift.ca are the same lift. They are also the same as the lift I got from Daytona. These guys buy the lift from China from the same manufacturer and then put there name on it when it arrives and resell them. However, the one from ADG is from China, but of better quality but costs more.
Anybody else with good or bad experiences?

Where I bought mine the guy said two guys couple of hours...that's only if you install for a living...it took three of us about 4 hours with a few beers in the mix, the Ikea instructions don't help

I haven't installed my lift yet, becasuse of the wrong support posts were supplied. It should be installed this weekend. It looks like it would be around 4-5 hours with two guys, then another 1-2hours if you need to run hardwired electrical back to your electrical panel.

I bought mine from DaSilva Lifts & they installed it in a couple of hours (all I had to was watch them). My unit came from Texas & was from Gemini Auto Lifts. I am very happy with my lift & have had no problems with it. One thing to watch for when you set it up is that you get it as low as possible. The original position they had at was hitting my bumper & they had to readjust it. Have someone watch as you go on it for the first time. Good luck.

Called DeSilva a month ago. He didn't have any lifts left and wouldn't get any until January. Joe's a nice guy. I used to get my Mustang performance parts from him and Paul before Ebay and when I had a pound of gel in my hair, Edwin jeans and a black leather jacket with 10 zipper pockets....HOW YOU DUIN!

Guys - I got mine from a place in Alabama. They ship to Canada all the time. Delivery to my place in Nova Scotia was under $2200 all in. You can see pics of my lift installed here: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=219373

Its a 9000lb lift that is only 9ft high. Took me about 7 hours to install and level perfectly. Go here: www.metro-lifts.com

    Take care.

    Hey Beev,
I've heard very good things about BendPac. Only a few lifts like these are made in North America still. They are quite expensive though.

Having said that, If the two post drive on and the single post (yes, I said single post) is the only thing that would work, stay away from the Chinese lifts. I would only trust the Chinese lifts for a four post drive on seeing as the design is more simple and the weight is distributed over 4 posts instead of two.

For the two post drive on lift you need some major welding moment connections at the base of the unit. The Chinese manufacturers welding is terrible and I don't believe the welds are tested. Just my 2 cents.

    Hey Guys,
One more lift at Daytona availible that has not been affected by the Canadain dollar. He has one left and selling for $2000. The new shipment of lifts will be between $2500 and $2900 in January. Please PM me if you are interested.

Rocco did you ever get yours up and running? Post some pics I'd love to see it. I was toying with the idea of a lift but not sure how it will work in my space. I have a 9ft ceiling height.

There are a couple of models of Parking/Hobby lifts. Which one did you get and will the TR fit on top or does it have to go below? These cars are so wide that some of the lifts won't accommodate the width unless you go with the extra wide models.

$2000 is really tempting. I spent almost that on a stupid bottle of Cognac that will do nothing other than give you a headache, oh ya and it broke in my luggage bringing it home. F*$K
