I really really like this thing, actually more than I thought I would. The quality is impressive. It looks like it was made at the factory and fits perfectly, just as tight as my real one.
eBay. Wasn't much of a fight. I put up token effort and got the thing. Surprised the crap out of me. Spent a little bit, but I am sure I can always find a buyer and get rid of it without much of a problem. At least that's what I told myself until it came in. Now I think I'll just keep it forever.
What colour are you going to paint it ?? LOL, They should have come like that straight out of the factory IMO,,the whole painting thing may not be as silly as it sounds,if anyone wanted the GTB look without the hassle of the grain in the stock one..
Tommy, I'm so jealous! That looks great. I bet that top would be a perfect compliment to these gray, gloomy NJ days.
Congratulations Dr Tommy. I own one also and really like it. Opens up the cockpit doesn't it? I can think of five or more F-chatters that own these. Wonder how many more have survived...
Looks great, especially on your black car, congratulations on getting it! Never really thought about one, but it looks pretty tempting....
Gosh...it's 5 in the morning here in Paris, and to begin the day by this! Exactly what I hope to have one day on my black car. I'm jealous... Well, better go back to bed. Congrats Dr Tommy, it sure compliments the car! Best,
Are you serious Doc? Man, that top matches the black car really well. Congrats and welcome to the club.
I have a black QV with a Saratoga top, it feels and looks great in that combination. Welcome to the club!
I was offered one privately right after I bought my car, but couldnt convince my wife to go along with it. I think I seriously missed out.... PDG
It was tough to convince myself to buy it. They are not cheap but they are very unique and pretty cool too. I have had a saved search on eBay for years and whenever one would appear I always passed because of the silly cost. This time around it was perfect timing. I had finally realized I could simple sell it for about what I had in it - maybe more, maybe less - if I didn't want to keep it. Then my Federal refund came in (it was quite a bit more than I expected it to be) thru direct deposit at the exact same time a "make offer" top appeared on eBay. I offered and they accepted. It was like "free" money since I wasn't viewing any account decrease after I bought it. Does that make sense? Anyway, it was just a psychological ploy on myself to buy it. So it's here and I am really impressed. For those of you that have never actually seen one of these things in person, they are well made. It doesn't have a "cheap" feel to it at all. Looks, feels, and fits like the car came with it new. I like it! So far, it has only one real downside that I can make out; Static electricity. It can make your blow dry look like a punk 80's style sometimes.
Congrats on the new top. It looks really great on the car. I am jealous to a degree.... I saw that top on E-Bay last week from the guy in Salem Mass. and was tempted to bid. But then it dissapeared, was reposted and I guess you bought it. Seller didn't really answer my questions very well, and didn't post them on the auction site for all to see. But.... I am going to purchase one in the future. Could you tell me how those cracks in the front pin area can be fixed? Did you use JB weld or can it be fixed with epoxy? Also I noticed that that top did not have the plastic trim that covers the inside part of the top. It looks bear fiberglass from the pictures on E-Bay or was I wrong? All the others I have seen in person have a full "leather textured" trim that covers the inside part. How do those pins fasten in? Can the cracks be fixed easily? Why would they crack to begin with? Is it from a drop or a design flaw? Any info appreciated as I am a future buyer of one of these roofs.
I think I am going to have to caall these guys if you all keep this up! Image Unavailable, Please Login
