Any of you guys ever let your Ferrari be valet parked? Any good (or bad from the perspective of the Fcar owner) stories? Ever walk away after turning over the key and wonder if you made a mistake?

if you really care about your ferrari (or any sports car for that matter), you will valet it...but you will do so carefully, and smarter than the next guy.

i worked as a valet at a local casino here in vegas over the summer. trust me when i tell you, the people working valet know exactly what kind of car you drive. they are "enthusiasts" just like you. the differance between them and you though is, its not their car...and they treat it that way.

ive seen valet drivers fry the hides in the middle of a packed parking garage. ive also witnessed one to be smart enough to wipe off excess tire rubber with a towel from the rear fender so that the owner wouldnt have any inclination as to what he did while the car was in his hands.

best thing to do, is bring your ferrari up to the valet guy, hand him the keys and pay the extra charge applied to leave your ferrari parked in the front row...not having to be driven...anywhere. it stays put until you get back and your the only one who drives it. period.

I pay the additional money to the valet, but I park the car and keep my keys. If this is unacceptable, I would move on. It's never been a problem, so far. I've read many threads on this and the horror stories, I don't want to ever have to post a bad valet story.

My friend in HS worked as a valet. A guy brought in a brand new 911 and a kid went screaming down the aisle and hit another valet backing out of a parking space in a Town Car, both cars were totaled. "Excuse me, sir, we have a bit of bad news...."

I lived in Boston for a few years and I saw what appeared to be a young mob guy pull a gun and point it right at the valet and told him if anything happened to his car he was dead. When we came back out from the restaurant it was parked right were the guy had left it and the valets were just working around it like it was not blocking the entire enterence. I guess they took the threat seriously, the owner was high as a kite and brandishing a 45 in front of 100 witnesses, it is a bad idea unless you are John Gotti and everyone is scared of you, but he did it. Gotta say the car looked ok when we left, it was nucking futs, but whatever.

Something similar just happend at the car wash I work at. Some new kid was so anxious to pull a new C6 through the tunnel, that when he got to the end he seemingly forgot there was another car in front of him, and he proceeded to damn near floor the throttle and run into the SUV in front of him causing $30,000 in damage.

New kid got fired. Oh well. Felt bad as hell for the guy who owned that new C6.

I like my mechannic to drive my car because then he knows what all is wrong with it. I might miss something and another set of eyes on the subject is a good thing. I also tip the guy. After all, he's performing a service for me. Your mechannic should be your best friend when it comes to your car. If you're an *******, . . . well, consider if the roles were reversed.

Valet paring is fine around here. Lot's of expensive cars around so they don't care one way or another.

If I had a vintage car, I probably wouldn't take it to dinnner at a restaurant.

Park it up front and NEVER give them the keys. I would not trust ANY VALET with the keys to any of my cars. All kinds of bad things can happen like door dings, curb rash etc......

If my mechanic had driven my car, he'd still be my mechanic. I had to return it SO many times for things he would have caught had he driven it, I fired him.

If you can't trust your mechanic doing untold $$$$$$ in repairs and maintenence to drive your car, perhaps you are using the wrong guy.

You have to pay to get your car up front? I think they'd wet their pants to have a nice Ferrari parked in front of their business.

It's a dance. Both egos, the establishment's and the owner's, are stroked by having exotic cars in the 3-4 spots closest to the door.

I trust my mechanic to drive the F anywhere, anytime. A valet, never. I let a valet service park my Miata at a “black tie” surgical ed event last June & found they parked it on the street instead of deck because it was “stick” & scuffed the tires on the curb.

I never go any place fancy enough to require valet parking. The Taco Bell drivethough suits me just fine :D

I have no issues letting others drive my car. That's what it is for, and if anything happens it's insured.
