Maybe somebody has any idea about this problem:

4 weeks ago the fuelpump broke down from my 1982 Mondial 8.
It was totally stuck so we fitted a brandnew Bosch fuelpump.

After 3 weeks this new fuelpump broke down again (while driving).
First thought was dirt or dust in fuel. We opened the first one and saw there was absolutly NO dirt or dust in it.
We emptied the second pump and alos here was no dirt or dust in.

Both pumps feel like they are stuck!! turning the power direction doesn't help to get it loose. The first pump I openend was nothing to see off burning.

I really have no clou what it can be. Does anybody has a clou????

Is it possible it has something to do with heat from the engine?
Am I missing a heatschield or something?

It's not that hot where the fuel pump is.
That is odd - I would think that the second pump is defective. I would engage with a Bosch Service Center on this, as I do not think it is 'Ferrari-related', but rather a straight K-jetronic something. I'm sure you have replaced the filter, and have them look at the check valve and accumulator - either which may be making the pump work too hard.
I've also heard over the years that one needs to be sure that it is the correct pump, as there are other Bosch K-jet pumps that 'can fit', but fail early due to some internal valving problem that is inconsistant with the check valve/accumulator/pressure regulator system.
    Good luck!

Having just gone thru the Mondial 8 pump blues myself, I might make the following observations. The stock system is plumbed with a filter screen in the tank then the fuel passes to the pump, and from there on to the accumulator, filter proper, then to the distributor. I had a pump just simply quit like you describe and upon carefll disssambly, found a very small bit of what looked like a tiny drill chip. Where it came from who knows. I suspect that over time, the vibration broke the tank screen and it allowed old stuff to make its way into the pump. Now that you have had one apart, you can see how close of tolerances a roller type high pressure pump operate at. It takes the smallest bit of matter to lock one up. The next time you put one in, get an inline filter to add a bit of insurance.

Thanks you very much for input!!
The Bosch fuelpump is send to Germany for inspection.
They let me know it will take 4 to 5 weeks for the inspection :(
I'll let you what they come up with.

As long we didn't find the cause I am gonna look for an used one.
Found out they were mounted on Ford Granda's and Ford Capri's too :)
I will also take the advice to mount an extra fuelfilter before the pump, just in case.....
Doesn't this give problems with the pressure to the pump? Not to much resistance??
