I do not know who you have spoken to regarding fitment from our company. I have only receive maybe 5-6 phone calls regarding this ad on the forum, and non have been regarding 550 fitments. I would suggest you point out who you spoke to so that I may sit down and have a talk with that person.

I have asked all questions on this public forum so as to make the information readily available to ALL people interested. I think this is in your interest as a business wishing to engage said community. I'm not looking to castigate someone, I'm looking for information pertaining to what could be a desirable product.

Someone posting ont he ModularWheels account indicated that there has been one 550 fitment done.

I had asked for information regarding the fitment, tire sizes, spacing, and also customer referral. Ideally we'd like to see pictures, and get information / testamonial / feedback from the customer if possible. There have also been questions about where the wheel is produced, as well as weight differences from stock 550 (and modular 550) to this wheel.

Just for your own information, the stock tire size is 255/18 and 295/18. I do not understand why anyone would fit a smaller tire onto the car with a larger diameter wheel.

Based on the response so far (info and lack thereof), I am inclined not to purchase a set. (Mike, that is my verdict.)

Best of luck in your endeavors,

    --Dan

This wheel and tire combination is a basic package, and the most cost effective for those customers who don't want to dish out a large amount of monies for a set of wheels, let alone on tires. You would be amazed how many customers driving 150,000$ cars, doesn't want to dish out $4,000 on a set of beautiful wheels and tires . Now if you want to dish out over 1,400$+ on a set of tires, ontop of the price of the rims, then by all means, we will customize the order to your car specs.

All questions asked over the phone are answered to 100% of our knowledge on the vehicle in question.

    NOTE TO SELF:

Before offering products for sale on f-chat, where people are notorious for helping you show the holes in your underwear:

    1. Kill all e-bay auctions at lower prices than the "special" you were offering members.

    2. Make sure to have technical data down.

    3. Check if there is a city named Guangdong in Italy.

ps - They are nice looking. The other ones with color ain't my cup o' tea

    LOL -

I certainly think there are many unanswered questions.

The ebay price is $1,995, plus $225 shipping. The F-chat special price of $2,495 may or may not include shipping so F-chat members only have to pay $295 above the regular price if shipping is included.

Also still confusion on whether the exact same rim fits the 348, 355, 360, 456 and 550. The ebay ad claims the rim fits all - with fitments.

Modular can you clarify please. Are there different models for the 360 and the 550? I believe a typical 360 rim does not fit a 550 - at least that is what I was told today at a tire shop.

Again - your claim of "yes, we have sold a set to an owner driving a 550. We have had no complaints regarding fitment." doesn't give the greatest comfort, especially given that there is some negative ebay feedback around fit and size.

Here are the unanswered questions I see in this thread:

What is the largest brake size you can fit under the 19" wheel?
Can you ask the customer that has them on the 550 if he is willing to show pictures or even speak with me (bobafett) in private?
Do you accept returns if they do not fit as claimed?
Also how long is the typical ship time?
Does the discounted price of $2,495 include shipping?
How much heavier are they than stock 575s and Barchetta rims?

Again the rims look nice and seem to be priced right (at least the ebay price) however, if they dont fit and you dont accept returns then they are not a bargain at any price.

Hoping for some answers and maybe a recko from the "guy that has them on his 550"

    Mike

Yes, these were recalled by Ferrari because of the aluminium wheel bolt hole inserts cracking, they are also lighter than the current replacement OEM aluminium rim. I currently have a rear Speedline rim being used as a doorstop which weighs around 25lbs!

ModularWheels, I will gladly lend some of my help to this thread. Can you post the offset values for the wheels (Front/rear). That will help dispel offset woes that some people may have. Also, hub ring size is important, so owners know if hubcentric rings are necessary, as well as if owners can use OE bolts.

A few other details that are necessary:

    1. What is the offsets F/R? (+32, +40, etc)
    2. What is the hub size? (60mm? 72.5mm? etc)
    3. What is the length of thread on the bolt that protrudes from the other side after you place an OE bolt in the bolt hole? This thread length needs to be within a few mm of OE specs or you can have a potentially dangerous problem. If this data is not available, then the depth of the bolthole will be sufficient.
    4. Where was the wheel cast? (location)
    5. What is the alloy used? (Al Si/Al Mg/etc)

If you can answer these questions in a timely manner it will rapidly dispel most of the concerns presented by the parties above.

Don't take this the wrong way, these questions have to be asked when you are talking about vehicles that can drive at length at speeds approaching and exceeding 200mph.

We will contact the customer, and ask if he would be willing to provide pictures and possibly contact you.

Shipping normally takes anywhere between 5-10 days, depends on your location in the USA.

We accept all returns on the rims that do not fit, if the fitment was approved by a Highline Wheels tech advisor. You can read our return policy at www.Hlwcorp.com

The $2,495 price comes with Free Shipping. The wheels on ebay are starting bid prices, that is why there is a price difference.

I could not tell you if they are heavier than stock 575s or the Barchetta rims since we do not sell those wheels nor do we have the wheels to give you those specs.

As a side note, I looked at these wheels when they were on Ebay. The were $995, then $1295, then $1595, and then $1995, and now on F-chat they are $2495...I noticed some sold at the $995 and $1295 and have noticed not one pair have sold at $1995 on Ebay. Law of 'supply and demand' would tell you that the price is too high. Law of 'F-chat' would tell you that most sponsers like to give F-chat customers discounts, not try to charge premiums...As for the note about starting prices on Ebay at $1995, not one pair has had a bid or currently has a bid and there are over 10 of them currently up. I don't think charging $2495 can rationalized by saying that prices on Ebay are just 'starting bids'.

You're right about that! I'll give them the benefit of the doubt regarding their old eBay pricing, but if they're willing to accept $1995 every day of the week on eBay, then that's the most they ought to be offering them for here on FerrariChat.

    Stock 550: 8.5" +46mm front, 10.5" +32mm rear
    ModWheels: 8.5" +52mm front, 10" +58mm rear

In theory, you would use for ideal fit a 6mm spacer in front and a 26mm spacer in the rear, but realisticly it would be 5mm in the front and 25mm in the rear.

I would not suggest a straight up to a 550 since the offset differences are significant enough to greatly (and adversely) effect tirewear.

I don't have my hub size info here with me. Paul348 is the guy to ask about bolts, as he has all the data.

I don't think a serious Ferrari owner should be interested in these wheels. Read the feedback, cheap chinese wheels. Seller bought a dozen $0.10 items to boost his feedback up. 3 piece modular design=1 piece wheel with bolts screwed in that have no function. Better to spend $2000 on a set of 3 piece Compomotives and have pride of ownership than to save a few 100 and never be really satisfied.

Since when do wheels cost $225.00 to ship?? I sold a set of 19" CCW SP500's for the 360 Modena WITH tires and the shipping was less then $150.00. Not to mention with 13 inches in the rear they were some big wheels.

In the last 12 months Highline Wheels has purchased over 200 ten cent (.10c) items on Ebay and received "excellent feedback" which gets averaged into its overall Ebay feedback rating.

Why is highline wheels buying 10 cent coupons (sometimes over 10 separate auction purchases on the same day) on Ebay? Could it be that they are trying to inflate their Ebay ratings? Perhaps they need to try and offset the 27 negative ratings in the past 12 months (A HORRIBLE NUMBER OF BAD RATINGS).

Buyer be advised, over 200 of Highline wheels Ebay feedback ratings (amost half of the total) in the last 12 months are from them buying 10 cent coupons.

    Check this link out. http://feedback.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedbackFromSellers&userid=highlinewheels&items=25&page=1&frompage=-1&iid=-1&de=off

I don't know if the rims are good or not - but them seem to have something to hide in their Ebay ratings.
