    Check out this link for a short clip of a 333SP doing a hot lap at VIR on Apr 30. I filmed it in my Viper. Sorry the compression, but my HDV cam is a wide screen and I haven't figured out how to download it to a manageable size in HD wide format. Anyone know how to do this??

    That was actually really good video quality! It was kinda hard to hear the 333 over your V10 :p The driver seemed to be taking it easy, is that why he waved you by? Thanks for posting that up. :)

    He was too busy posing for the camera to be putting his foot in it, I'm sure! I've sent the orig tapes to Aaron to see if he can delete the noise (my V10)! Let's hope he has the equip to do that!

    Fellas, a hot lap for North Course at VIR is under 1:30, not over 2:00!

    Good quality and, Boxer 12, you have a nice line! <grin>

    -Peter (WAY more laps than Chuck Hawks at VIR! Heck, I designed the entry to the North Course cut-through!))

    Peter, thanks on the line. I overheard one of the flagger guys at the track said the record was 90 something sec, but I don't know. We were just having fun running in the mid 1:40's when this was shot, I think the transfer slows it down. The video makes it look slow anyway even when I watch the original footage, but ya, we were getting smoked in the crossover section by the 360C's of FofW, as everyone was, who were running about 10 sec a lap faster than us. My first time on the track and my second track day with the Viper. It was a blast, very nice track! I have lots more footage. We went around bumper to bumper for several laps, on more than one occasion. And it is not useful to get more than 3 gears on this track, or beneficial unless you are driving a highly wound car like a 360C. You lose more time shifting than can be gained unless you have an F1 tranny. I think the 333 has good torque, as does the Viper, so there is no need to shift that much.

    Anyway, here is what the front end of this car looks like! Nice, eh?

    It's an expensive car, the owner was taking it very easy. Some guy passed him in a 355 GTS!

    Covering the season Moretti took this car to the championship was one of the highlights of my career as a photojournalist. The sound as it pulled effortlessly up the hill after turn 1 at the Glenn still sends chills. It was a special car.

    I can agree with that -- I only had 1 HPDE under my belt before hitting VIR for the first time... by the end of the first day, my instructor said I was at about 2 minutes flat on North course... that said, 2 minutes can't be that fast... :)

    (btw: I only have a '94 RX-7 -- I'm sure a 333SP, within 1 20 minute session, could lap me a few times!)

    I saw the same 333SP #10 at Mont Tremblant and Lime rock last year.... INcredible car, sound was breathtaking!
