Yes, and put on the brights. It works okay - not great - but I find it's the best way to get a decent shot without attracting too much attention.
that's cool...I thought maybe downtown at Georgia Tech would be another option. I saw a 1960s Rolls Royce broken down on 285 today with the hood propped open. No idea which one it was.
I had a good run today to Lenox. First I was trying to find a parking spot when I saw a Nissan GT-R parked in the general lot. Went inside to return some items. Was going to say hi to you Andrew but seemed like you were busy so I left it that. Was pulling out of Lenox going to Intercontinental area when a black F430 pulled in....believe he went to the front valet. I swung by the usual places and spotted lots of Bentleys out in full force this evening. Saw a couple of Flying Spurs with a Continental GT's strew across town. Then a very nice spot. The condominiums across from Ibiza restaurant and behind that Eiffel tower place. I drive in....see a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, im like oh, that nice. Then inside the garage was a Bentley....GTC? Then my eyes lite up....on a red Tesla. It was a private residence so I hurried up and walked near his garage and snapped a pic and went on my way. Sweet Tesla, but I'm not sure I would be posting a picture that was taken on private property... As for mine from today, work was absolutely awful all day and I didn't have time to go out front like normal so only a few. Started with a Bentley GT Speed and a Maserati Coupe together at Lenox. Then on my way home was a black 550/575, I'm pretty sure it was a 575 cause it had the same wheels as the other one I saw a few days ago. It had Floyd County tags so it's not one we see everyday. My first full day back in Atlanta after attending the Cavallino Classics and Supercar Weekend in Florida. You would think I would of lost my excitment of viewing great cars but my excitment was given a shot in the arm when I spotted a black Ferrari 360 Modena coupe with Florida tags entering the Cadillac dealership off of Cobb Parkway. This inspired me to gather up my camera and drive into Buckhead. As it turns out I am glad I did. The second car spotted was a yellow Ferrari 360 spider traveling on Peachtree past Phipps plaza. Third was a black Ferrari F430 coupe parked at Lenox. Fourth was a blue Ferrari 355 F1 spider at Chops. Fifth was a blue Ferrari 360 spider across the street at the grocery store parking lot. Sixth was a black Ferrari 360 spider at the Ritz Carlton valet. Seventh was a red Ferrari F430 spider at a restaurant off of Piedmont and Lenox. As nice as it is to travel for a huge Ferrari gathering it is even better to view them daily here in Atlanta. Wow - I thought I had the spot of the day, but Purvil's Tesla spot just may have trumped me. Very cool to see one in Atlanta! For starters, some sightings: - white Aston-Martin DB9 Volante on Piedmont and Lenox. Please excuse the poor photo; night and motion are tough to get together. - red Dodge Viper SRT-10 Coupe on vanity plate EJH at Fogo de Chao on Piedmont. - black Ferrari F430 in valet at the Westin Buckhead. My sighting of the day, though, goes to a red Lamborghini Countach on Wildlife plates which I saw at a gas station on Piedmont near Cheshire Bridge. This is one of the handful of carbureted Countachs imported to the U.S. Here's another shot showing it from behind, another one of it at the pumps, and one with the doors up after the owner came outside. A truly stunning car. January By the Numbers: January 2009: 52 (42 cars) January 2008: 38 January 2007: 23 Most popular cars, January 2009: 1. 2003-_ Dodge Viper - 5 1. Ferrari F430 - 5 3. Nice statistic numbers there Doug. How long did it take you to gather those up? Man, lots of supercars in ATL than I would have expected.
I used to gather the statistics only at the end of each year; I figured if I do them monthly this year, I can save myself some time when the year ends. Plus, it's fun to see how things are progressing. Of all of the sightings (1,408 currently), only about 870 of them have come from Atlanta; the rest have come from Denver and a few other places. Some great spots today, too: - black Aston-Martin DB9 Volante in an underground garage for LA Fitness near Peachtree and Piedmont. - black Ferrari 599 GTB on California plates at Peachtree and Piedmont. I first saw this vehicle at Phipps Plaza and drove next to it down Peachtree. A gorgeous car. - black Ferrari Mondial 3.2 cabriolet at a car wash on Roswell Road. - managed to see the red Lamborghini Countach again today, this time on Rock Springs Road at Piedmont. If you've ever wanted to know what a Countach looks like in traffic, here's a good idea. It's crazy! Nice shots, West and Doug...this weekend was a good one for spotting for sure! I only had one today and it was an Audi RS4 at Phipps. As for January stats from me, it's a lot easier to keep up with stuff like this because I've started organizing my pictures better since the first of the year Total cars- 66 Most popular from January Dodge Viper- 9 (7 of them were at the same time though) Gallardo- 6 430- 6 360- 4 DB9- 4 R8- 3 I haven't kept up with tags because I'm lazy. Got a few spots in between rain showers today... First one was an older Porsche, I have no idea on the model though. The other one was the black R8 that has been seen a few times in the past few days. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
A few cars today for me, too: - silver Aston-Martin Vanquish on temporary plates on Cheshire Bridge at Lavista. Here's another angle. - silver Audi R8 on South Carolina 'In God We Trust' plates on Peachtree and Piedmont, then later parked outside a residential building off Peachtree. - red Dodge Viper SRT-10 on Georgia plate KZIMFLY on Peachtree near Pharr Road. Dang I need to start carrying a little camera with me. I see a lot of cool cars in Cherokee county. Every weekend my wife and I see a black Audi R8 and a silver 430 coupe. We also saw a light green Saleen S7 on Hwy 92 in Woodstock.
That Saleen S7 would be a great spot. Havent seen one on the road personally. Or even with my own two eyes in person.
Yes when I saw the car, I made sure my wife saw it too. It was a very unusual color too. Like a mint metallic green, car was AWESOME!
Saleen S7 is an EXTREMELY rare car...actual production numbers are hard to find but it's between 100 and 400 ever produced. I have only seen one.
Couple of shots from today and yesterday, all at Terminus. Yesterday was the DB9 and today were a pair of R8's. I'm glad to see that the R8 owners don't seem to care about the temperature and are still enjoying their cars, I've been seeing one just about every other day. It would have been nice if the valet guys had parked them side by side, it would have made a pretty cool picture, oh well. They had them parked side by side when I showed up! Buuuuuuuut... you got to see the Aston-Martin, and I didn't. As Andrew mentioned, two Audi R8s parked together at Terminus; here's the white one and here's the silver one. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Are you guys checking the plates on these R8s? I would like to know if any of them have a distributor plate on them (lite blue and starts with HT). And keep up the good work! These pictures are great.
Have now seen twenty R8s - none with distributor, dealer, or wholesaler plates. Some temporary tags, of course. Thanks!
Two spots today: - black Ferrari 328 GTS on Peachtree at Lenox Road. - black Maybach 57 at Phipps Plaza. I love seeing the new Ferraris, but seeing one like the 328 just reminds me how striking the "older" cars really are. I know the owner is an F-chatter - in case you happen to run across this post, thanks again for driving it! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
