That's a nice looking set The carb tool is available at Pierce Manifolds, IIRC That bar should indeed fit thru the plug wrench, odd.....
Man, I'm jealous. The tool rolls and spare tire disappeared from my car during it's time in storage. I'll put together my own tool kit, but it would have been nice to have the originals. I'll need to dig up a jack and spare tire as well.
What is the carb tool used for? idle adjust? Something else? Is it that T handled looking thing? The hole in the top of my spark plug wrench is about 2 MM too small for the leverage bar. Not sure if the wrong bar is in there, or someone forgot to finish the hole size on the socket handle. The bar is about 7/16" and the hole in the socket handle is closer to 5/16", from memory. Doug
In the first post photo it is on the right between the pliers and the plug tool - as to what it is 'used' for - well its called the carb tool but mainly seems to exist to cause discussion over the completeness and originality of tool kits....
Bradley, good to hear you had a good ebay buying experience with your ferrari. Thanks, yes, in all other respects the car is excellent so I have absolutely no complaints at all. I got a very, very good 308 for probably $10,000 less than I would have had to pay at a name brand Ferrari seller/consigner.
The round bar is for helping you mount the wheel back on the hub I believe. You stick it in the hub in a lug hole and then put one of the lug holes on the wheel onto the bar and slide it on.
Well, even that isn't what it was intended for, it sounds like a good idea to me. I noticed the bar seems to have a spring loaded detent ball in one end. I will stick it in a lug hole in the next day or two and test this usage out. Doug
How about the screwdrivers? Anybody know a good source for them? (Other than ferraripartsexchange.com, who - while otherwise good - want around $70 EACH for them!)
For my 1982 308: Screwdrivers are unmarked ORANGE (the ones I still have, anyway) like the "early" 308s Wrenches are Polytools Italy, and marked "Ferrari", like the "later" 308s The jack is YELLOW like the "later" 308s I think that this all goes to show that there IS NO "Correct 308 tool kit." Wouldn't mind completing the set of orange screwdrivers, though.
