Alex, Yes I had the opportunity a few weeks ago to drive the Mac, it's bloody fast, long story short impressive and very different to the 458, nice styling and build quality, I love it in black. Not as flamboyant or charismatic as the Ferrari IMO, I'd have one over an SLS any day. Try one out.
If this is indicative of what people will pay to get one immediately, instead of canceling, you should order the Italia in ADDITION to the spider, drive the spider a few miles when it arrives, flip it and use the proceeds to pay part of the purchase price of the Italia!
Awesome! So you keeping the Cali or is that soon to be history? If the latter, I can't wait to hear your reasoning, after talking me into getting a Cali!
Honestly, this makes no sense. First, you'd have to buy a used Italia because the dealer won't let you flip a spider and buy another new car. Second, even used ones are still going over MSRP so you're just throwing money away from any potential gain. Third, these over inflated prices will drop rapidly. I was told the factory is ramping up spider production because of demand for next year. Cars may be sold over MSRP but maybe at 10 or 20K as coupes have been. Trying to flip for economic gain is a losing strategy.
Congrats! A friend of mine just picked one up in Dallas a few weeks ago in the same config but without the white center stripe. Enjoy!
I also had difficulties deciding between coupe and spider and I also chose coupe bcos it is better looking, lighter, better performing and most importantly u can have it quicker ! the last reason is the price difference !
One more thing, you guys in the US are lucky, starting price for 458 italia in Canada is 268,000 and spider is 299, 900. So with the dollar at par, compared to US the upgrade to a spider in Canada for you Americans is $ 60,000. And for all you changing from the Italia to a Spider, I would be happy to take that old piece of junk off your hands.
Congratulations! I think you will love your choice! I look forward to seeing your 458 cruise around the streets of Toronto. Nice caliper choice.
