Ok guys...taking pics along the whole way...as you all know my timing belt stripped so I am taking the motor out of my 348. I only have a 1 car garage to work with and have never done this before....If I can do it, anyone can...

I will be using floor jacks later in the procedure as well as 2 furniture dollys from 'lowes' to support underneath the subframe...I will using Ernie's 2 jack method of unbolting the subframe while it rests on the dolly....then jacking the car up to seperate the subframe from the car...then rolling the subframe from underneath it....

Just got through with my engine out service and Ernie's description was good except for the shock mounts.

When I put the engine back in I had a problem with the shock mounts going back in smoothly without dismantling the top of the shock towers.

Loosening the clamps with a screwdriver that are located on the back of the airbox...There are 2 small ones and 2 large ones.

I then unplugged the bosch sensors and removed the airbox by loosening the four nuts that hold the airbox to the car.

Drained the oil by removing the shield that is underneath the engine of the car. I then removed the drain plug from the oil sump which is located at the passenger rear of the car and drained the oil into a canister. I then drained the rest (most) of the oil from the main drain plug with a 22mm allen wrench located underneath the motor...DO NOT REMOVE THE PLUG THAT FACES THE GROUND. If you look at the picture, the plug with the allen wrench on it faces toward the center of the car.

I found metal shards in the oil which was not a good sign.

Hey... you can't fool me! The clutch pumpkin has already been removed! Also, I trust you're not getting any technical advise from "parkerfe" regarding exhaust, huh? ;)

My shock tower doesn't have those sneakers and track pants connected to it. I wonder if a "P.O." removed them because of a slow-down problem.

Removed the muffler by unscrewing the bolts on both sides that hold it on to the muffler brackets. Then removed the bolts that hold the muffler onto the catalytic converters (or straight pipes). I then loosened the bumper by removing the 4 nuts that hold the back of the bumper onto the frame..This will give you enough play to remove the muffler from underneath the car.

Yeah, Day 1 was like a month ago and I didn't have a digital cam...but I wanted to show the whole procedure so I figured I would take pics even though the stuff has been removed!

This is not necessary to remove the engine, but I want to inspect the wear on my clutch discs....so I removed the clutch pack off of the back of the car...Easy, just undo the nuts that surround it...DO NOT REMOVE THE NUTS IN THE MIDDLE THAT HOLD THE FERRARI PLATE ON.

I was trying to tie the comic idea of a slow-down light to his track shoes. I suppose I shouldn't audition for any comedy clubs, huh?

Just to shed some more info on the plate for the guys that are unsure of what its there for and if you also dont know yourself mobileguy? The ferrari cover on the back of the pumpkin, only is a cover for the big locking bolt and bearing that bolts the flywheel/clutch assembly into the pumpkin itself. It does not need to be removed at all of course in this case. :) Heres a pic with it removed anyways.

I then removed the speedo sensor cable that is on the drivers side of the car near the shock tower...After that, I removed the clutch line by loosening the clutch line on top of the clutch and flywheel assembly...There was no pressure because during the removal of the clutch pack, I also removed the T.O. Bearing which relieved pressure and drained the clutch fluid as well... After loosening the clutch line, I removed the the 2 brackets the hold the clutch line down, I then tucked the clutch line out of the way.

I then removed the rear decklid as suggested by Tom...It makes it a lot easier to get to the waterpump hoses and the rear throttle cable bracket...I couldnt get the shocks to pop off (someone want to tell the secret!) so I just unscrewed them and then unscrewed the four bolts that hold the decklid on. I then used a prop rod to keep it up.When I removed the 4 bolts, the decklid still stayed in place. The used tape to keep in place, so i pryed the decklid off with the back of a hammer...popped off pretty easily...I held it while I popped it off so that it wouldnt slide

Removed the fuel lines by unscrewing them where they lead into the fuel rails..Very easy to unscrew...a little gas came out, i just kept a rag underneath it to soak it up, it stopped after about 5 seconds.....then removed the bracket that holds the fuel line to the engine and tucked both sides out of the way.

I then drained the coolant out by removing the hose at the back of the coolant tank and using a couple of empty milk cartons to drain it into.
