This weekend they had F1 ALMS ChampCar etc... now aside from the fact their crack staff of broadcasters don't know a thing about what they are covering what can we do to help keep the network involved???

The ALMS coverage was pitiful and the main host looks like mister potato head after a date with a microwave... The F1 was sad, all i could do was hope for someone to coax Murry Walker to become a consultant to CBS and head up a reality search for F1 fans so they can find SOMEONE who knows more that "reigning world champion and seven time world champion'

I am happy they are carrying it on the network, i just wish they put a little effort into the product

Good or not, coverage is coverage. Better than them not showing anything else but NASCAR. I'm just glad to see the type of racing i like, on regular TV.

Isn't most NASCAR coverage on FOX? If not on FOX, then doesn't it go to NBC? I don't think CBS has any NASCAR rights so maybe that's why they're going in this direction. I think it's good for bringing more fans to F1, but I would prefer they also show a live broadcast in the morning for the people who don't mind waking up early to watch. Kind of like when Speed TV showed live early in teh morning then replays at 10PM the same day.

Agreed on the early bird race broadcast. Those here are the types to do that. i just wish they had a team that made the thing as interesting as ITV can. By not Covering it properly they are doing the event and the fan a disservice. but the fact they are covering it at all is somewhat surprising

I thought that cbs coverage was so bad that I ended up fast forwarding almost th ewhol race. usually I enjoy the speed guys and it's a great tow hours no matter the outcome.

Everytimne I would hit play derek Daly was trying to make things sound like a tractor pull or monster truck show. Pitiful!!!

they should just buy Speed tv's coverage on those weekend that they sho the race. I'm not looking forward to their Monaco coverage. thye ruin the race for me. Daly is a blowhard!

I was thinking about sending an e-mail after the Spanish GP saying how they did better by not cutting the trophy presentation and post-race interviews too short. I'm too lazy so I didn't do that, haha.

Other than the CBS.Sportsline.com site feedback does anyone have a contact that we can send in positive feedback coupled with suggestions so they know the kind of impact their coverage is having?

Here is a copy of a letter I just sent to one of the heads of communications at CBS Sports. I will post whatever response I get and if we end up with an actual person to send emails and letters to.

I think your letter is very civil, factual and just might get someone's attention. Let's hope so because I can barely tolerate Derek Daly and the other baboon, Shaheen (or whatever his name is). He obviously knows little about F1.

There is a night and day difference in the quality of coverage offered by CBS when compared to Speed TV. I rewatch the races on Speed to help erase the painful memories of the CBS coverage.

My question to all of you is, since all of the current broadcast crew 'sucks', who is out there that is qualified; knowledgable, and has TV savvy (ie is good looking AND can walk and chew gum at the same time in front of a TV camera).

We need a list of about 10-12 people to choose from.

    Thoughts ?

I dont think looks need to matter much but what we need is a bunch of people who are passionate about the sport. Here are 5 names I can think of ..

    1. Murray Walker - he is free and doing the commentary on the GP Masters circuit. He would be perfect.
    2. Bobby Rahal
    3. Jackie Stewart
    4. Damon Hill - to get a more recent F1 flavor
    5. Stirling Moss

I didn't mean 'good looking' as in a boy-toy model, but screen presence is mandatory, sorry, but it is. 3, if not 4 of the 5 you won't get because they have other commitments on race weekends, and that's the problem, 'most' of the folks we think would be good are doing other things and are unavailable.

Others, I am not sure how they would react being on the other side of the camera, we could name off a ton of them, tons of former drivers, some just don't have 'it'.
