I've got a track day next Tuesday and need to get cover for the car I'm using, my trade insurance doesnt cover it and they can't add it on and yes I know I should have checked earlier ;)

can anybody recomend a company who I can get insured for 1 trackday with?

Wheres the track day - some circuits (I know croft do) can supply insurance for the ivents held on thier tracks.

Never bothered myself as the excess can be draconion....

Andrew, it's at Oulton, normaly I wouldnt bother but were not using one of my cars and as my brother hasnt been on a track before he's a bit cautious about it (yet still insists we take his crappy 330ci rather than my 911!)

Guys, thanks for all the suggestions, the most practical quote in the end turned out to be competion car insurance (THB Egger) at £137 for the day for two drivers (30 & 34 years old) with a £1200 excess :(

Great thanks, quite impressed with the BMW, slower than my 911 (most things are ;)) but fun none the less (if timing was allowed I may have been in the 2:02-2:10 range :D), a few decent toys there Masser coupe, Noble, and what seemed like a thousand scoobies and 7's

And happy to say little brother is now emptying his penny jar for a disposable track day car (MX5 or Mr2 being the likely choices)

Nah tell him to build a 7, my mates now building a couple, one with a 2 litre Zetec and the other a Zzr1100 bike engined jobbie

And yes its annoying that you can't time yourself, I don't see the problem really but they say you are classed as racing if you do and the insurance is invalid

    Ditto!

My mid spec westfield (Vauxhall XE, TB's, 210bhp) takes some catching in the dry - will humble many a more expensive car and its cheap to fix....

They're great aren't they, I've heard many people say that nothing can touch it on the track, when my friend builds either of his I will borrow it to see if it will fit in my garage with the Mondy.

Yes they are absolutly fantastic - I'll never part with mine... On a bang to buck ratio they're unbeatable. But be warned once driven you'll want one, and its worth noting that my only proviso for moving house was to have a garage that would fit the 328 and Westie (and a few bike too but thats another story)

She got a kitchen so it was a fair deal...

I got my garage the size I wanted, but it cost me some railings for the front of the house and a bigger conservatory ;-)

    How about

    :D

If timing was allowed then insurance status does change but also marshall and medical cover plus safety equipment requirement. A track day at Donington costs from about £150, you cover your arms and wear a saucepan on your head a General Test (timing allowed) = £400 + roll cage, extinguishers, electrical cut-off, nomex overalls, Snell 2000 helmet etc etc.

Interesting, I never knew that, I do have a fully plumbed in extinguisher & a cut out switch, I would like a roll cage but its finding one for a mondy
