Somehow the cyl 5-8 stopped working so i messured the compression of them and they all 4 had 0 psi compression. So i decided to remove the cyl. heads. Maybe someone can give a solution to the problem from whats on the picture.

Sorry i found the picture so funny that i had to open a thread for it :)

Yes i call the local ferrari center right tomorrow morning :)

I'm stupid i took several pictures and none with the finished engine mounts wich are the reason of that old rusty testblock hanging on the gearbox. But they are done now and next step drysump system , turbocharger with exhaust manifold and then connect all with the 355 exhaust. And then maybe i can finally start the first 4cyl turbo 348 ... i hope its the first and noone else was so insane earlier.

What was the first symptom you noticed? Did you get a 5-8 missing light? Was there debris on the road? How's the ride? Have you checked for vacuum leaks? :)

Um, that looks like the rare domestic Italy version of the car in response to engine taxes. That's a keeper, dude!

Mmm i think its more for performance reasons then tax because the tax for 2l without cat are more then for 3.4 with :)

Could you elaborate? I know you can get tons of HP's out of a 4-cyl... but what about torque to launch this heavy beast??

The torque could be higher then the gearbox can handle. I don't get a concret figure on that till now, how much the stock 348 gearbox can handle so i will start with ~500nm @ 5000rpm. With maximum boost it would be ~750nm @ 5750rpm. And the complete dry car weight will be ~1200kg +/- 50kg from what i put on the scale till now and summed it all up. I will put it on a scale when all parts are finally in.

Can you elaborate on the origin and specs of the motor? I have done some unique hybrid stuff in the past, so i'm really curious about this. Not sure I would be thinking 4-cylinder if I was gonna convert my 348... probably more like LS-1, or maybe a supercharged or turbo 4.3L Chevy V6!

The main engine is a 4zyl 2.0l 16v dohc engine in stock it comes with 170, 190, 200 and 240hp. Used in cars from Opel/Vauxhall/Lotus like the Speedster, Europa, Astra, Zafira. But in detail, the head is a modified one(berylium valve seats, bronce valve guides, enlarged ports, welded extra material,....) from the cars mentioned befor. the engine block is a modified one from a older 204hp opel/Vauxhall engine because its stronger then the block normaly mounted to this head. The exhaust valves are sodium filled valves from Audi 6mm stem 31mm diameter. Inlet valves are from BMW 6mm stem 34,5mm diameter. Cams selfmade. stronger double valve springs. solid lifters. Pistons Arias bore size 86,475mm. Steel Conrods Pankl. Crankshaft nitrated steel stock 86mm lift. added drysump system. 950ccm injectors. 76mm intercooler pipes. liquied cooled intercooler. gt3582r turbocharger. 100mm exhaust system mounted to a modified 355 stock exhaust. exhaust manifold self made copied from a old brabham engine. Inlet manifold modified bmw m3 46mm runners big plenum. ecu stock with modified mappings.

Nice work, Samy. I'm anxious to see the result! Now, what did you do with that old, rag-bag, $100 engine you took out of there? Since I'm your friend, I'll be glad to help you clear it out of the garage, and I won't charge you a thing.

Sorry but it was already sold to a mondial owner for a sixpack of beer. :) But he didn't finished that project and he sold it to someone build a ferrari replica one of that old ferrari thinks i even don't know the name of it :) Something round and from the 60s or something. I had it on several markets in the internet and decreased the price often but no one wants it. Only some highjackers trying to rip me off with Western Union. So i ended up selling it complete with all additional parts like ecus, wiring, MAFs, Alternator, Fuel Injectors, Cats, exhaust manifolds , .... 4500euro. Thats arround $6500. And it was even the never GTS/B with M2.7 Motronics and 320hp. In the moments when i think i never get all the parts in it to finish the conversion i think it was such a bad idea to sell it for that price ... :( ok but i was young and needed the money :)

The Pictures work fine for me maybe imageshack was down when you tried to click on them.
