For an unknown reason this Ferrari 599 GTB catched fire in Almelo, The Netherlands. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Third time I see a burning 599....... poor quality? Dutch newspaper http://www.ad.nl/binnenland/article1297620.ece
Its not THE aluminum, its just aluminum in general. Ever thrown an empty soda-can into a fire? They disintegrate after some time the same way these cars do. Just the nature of the material. Best Jon
Seems like Ferraris have more Car-B-Que's than any other make. My TR almost toasted up because of a melting cat (ha! no slowdown light ever came on....so comical) and my 456 had a near catastrophy because of a wiring issue (may have been aftermarket alarm, not sure). I watched an Enzo nearly burn up at Monterey and a 355 have some kind of melting issue with the rear apron. I used to wonder why every Ferrari I saw at the car show would have a fire extinguisher. Perhaps Ferraris should come stock with Halon systems in the engine compartment?
I think this is one of the worst fires i have seen with any ferrari. Hope the ferrari factory determines the cause, and supply the owner with a new car. the 599 is aleardy getting bad review hope the reviews are not as bad as the movie redline. then for sure ferrari will be in trouble. this is why Lamborghini will prevail in road going cars. its German Engineering, How often do you see a Porsche on fire? john
The Lambo's have caught fire also. This is not just a Ferrari thing. I would also think you could find some recent porsche fire too. Sad day for that 599 owner.
Yeah Ferrari is really having a hard time selling cars these days, I bet they just wish they had the demand lambo does. Where are these bad reviews of the 599? Most of the ones I have seen have pretty damn impressive?
$130 at West Marine (I have no connection to them) will buy an automatic engine bay fire extinguisher. I've got one in my 348 and another above the engine/fuel tank on a sailboat.
Personal car of Munsterhuis (correct me if I am wrong), Ferrari dealer in Twente, Netherlands. He lost a lot of money if the car was not insured.
My neighbour´s new Audi caught fire. German engineering... ha! Anyways, I´ve seen a lot of burnt cars around the internet lately, so I wonder if the problem is not in the cars, but in the internet and in those cellular phones with camera: a car catches fire and 2 hours later all the world has seen the photos.
