I finally got my Saratoga top (a HUGE thank you to Peter!!!) It's simply amazing what a difference this top makes for driving... helps eliminate the "gun turret" feel... opens up the headroom... lets the sun shine in!! I'm very happy with this!! If anyone has a source of old used Targa tops. I have a buddy that can take the old top and make it into a Saratoga Top. Here are some pics of what he did for his fiat X-19.. That also had Saratoga top options in the 70s. JJ http://www.network54.com/Forum/12159/message/1184200890/SARATOGA+RB+TOP+pass+road+test+pictures.
Very sharp. You'll have to let us know how it does in the summer sun. Sometimes on quick drives I don't bother removing the top, and the 308/328 can make you a bit claustrophobic without some sky.
I quite agree! I've already had it out on a couple of days that were close to 90... and it was a nice change having the a/c running and actually being comfortable... while not sacrificing the upwards view
I was in a 328 with one of these tops a couple years back. It definitely is a nice addition and worth the $$. Best of luck.
Is this the Top that was on Ebay a couple of weeks ago? It looked to be a really nice piece.. congrats!
I purchased a saratoga top last year. It was never used. Installed it, it was a snug fit in the back, on the passenger side. Actually rubbed a alot on the painted "targa pillar" right behind the passenger's head. Wore a spot in the paint and sqeeked. And the front windshield cracked on the passenger side, very bottom, by the corner near the dash. Took 1 day for this to happen. Sand the plexiglass so it doesnt contact the rear pillar.
Nice!! I really like that top!! However I'm not too sure how well that would work during the Arizona Summer...Crockpot comes to mind -Chris
Since Saratoga has been close down for many years, can somebody remanufacture the top? Maybe if we can have a group buy, somebody might want to do the initial step.
Very nice top! Thanks for posting the pictures. If I ever bought one I would look into a solar shade when it gets hot/too sunny out. Like this: http://www.westcoastcorvette.com/p-1435-2005-08-c6-targa-solar-shade.aspx
Thanks! Yeah - the car can get a bit toasty with all that sunlight ... and, of course, our A/C is a bit on the weak side..
This sounds like really good advice. These tops look so great. I wish I had one. Tops for 308s are tough to find. Are these Saratoga tops even still being produced?
My understanding is that these tops are rare and no longer in production (and haven't been for some time). They are pretty tough to locate - but, they crop up every now and then!
