Well, progress on my "barn find" 365BB (#18265) has been slow, as can be expected for this sort of project. Body and paint were completed about a year ago (pictures posted then) and I have only just now completed the reinstallation of the glass, gaskets, and interior. Pictures are below. *BIG* thanks to Johann at Coachtrim for doing all the leatherwork (the entire interior was reskinned), World UPH for cutting and binding the carpets and making matching mats in Wilton, and to Hirsch Auto for supplying me / World with the correct original style Wilton carpet, as well as Lyle Tanner for all the new gaskets.

The car was red/black when acquired but is now back to its original Blu Dino with Pelle Beige Leather and Blue carpets. One item to note is that Johann redid the seats with the correct *vinyl* "daytona" inserts. ALL 365BB and carb 512BB had these inserts from the factory, they were all vinyl with fake stictching, and they were available ONLY in black or red. So, if you see one of these cars with leather inserts (which will be missing the embossing on the vent holes and the fake stitching) or inserts in any other colors, it is certain they were redone incorrectly.

All that is left now to complete the car is for Bill Pollard (the best!) to finish the engine and tranny rebuild and to get the motor in the car and sort the suspension. Will keep everyone posted.

Its originally a pocket for odds and ends on the 365, no EQ in them I dont think. Looks like he put a door on it.

Newman is right - No eq on a 365BB. Just a bin to stick oddments in. The picture does make it look like it has a door, but it does not - just an open bin. FWIW, I was very careful to keep everything original - no mods were made (well, except the floor mats, but they come out) at all and this should be pretty much exactly how the car looked when new.

That is just fantastic, and thanks for sharing. I can almost smell the leather through the photos. By the way, the entire color scheme of your car is superb. I love mine (black/tan Daytona) but the blue/crema is so fine, so elegant, and more unusual. Just great. Enjoy that car!

Thank for the kind words, Tex. Actually, and only FWIW, the interior is not Crema. Rather, is is "Pelle Beige VM 3234". This color, which is commonly referred to as "fawn" by the leather guys is darker than Crema but lighter than the standard Ferrari Tan (which I think is VM 3218). In any event, this is the original leather color of my car. Funny thing is that when I got the car, the original leather was mostly intact, but it had been dyed black, necessitating a complete redo.

Are those speakers in the back of the seats? Was that how the 365BB came originally or did you do this as an enhancement? It looks beautiful!

Sure. I did all the disassembly of the interior myself (well, with the help of some friends, but you get the idea). All of the leather upholstery was done by Johaan and his team at Coachtrim in Danbury CT. They are widely regarded as the best Ferrari upholsterer on the East Coast (at least) and I can now say that this reputation is well deserved. Their work was impeccable and service outstanding - they really know these cars. For the carpets, I had World UPH cut and bind the carpets to a template I provided them (the old carpets). They did not have the proper / old style Wilton in this color, so I had it supplied to them by Hirsch Auto. World also made the embroidered mats out of the same Wilton wool. All of the new gaskets (and they are all new) were supplied by Lyle Tanner, and I then did all the fitting and reinstallation myself (again with some help).

    Hope this helps,

    A

Nope - not speakers. They are air vents and they are factory. They allow your back to breathe a little bit (through the holes in the inserts, and out the seat back). Not sure they really function for that purpose, but they are original. They are also on the 365gtc/4 (but without the "daytona" inserts).

The is excellent work. I really like the rare color combo.

    Did you redo the headliner?
I ask since on the passenger side of mine where the snap that holds the visor up it is torn away.

I did not redo the headliner - luckily it was salvageable. Good thing to as a 365bb does not have an upholstered headliner like the later cars but instead has a one piece molded white vinyl unit. Remember also that a 365bb has no sunvisors per se either, and is instead equipped with roll out blinds that stick to the winsheild with suction cups. Ah, Ferrari.

Lookin' good Alex. Best of luck with it when you finally get to drive it. Wonderful looking automobile...and in the original color of my GT4 (you remember all of those threads back a year or so where you assisted greatly). I've got the new age paint following the original formula -- which makes the car darker. Still really nice, but definitely darker).

Recently, I did find one very thin tape line which revealed the original Blue Dino Metallic -- just like yours.

    Best regards, John
