I'm running on my old old laptop, so I cannot see the ad. But is this the black 328 thats been for sale for a while? Wasnt it priced at 85k or something? I think I saw the black (over tan?) 328 on ebay about 2 years ago? Just curious if its the same one. James in Denver
Link didn't work at first for me... select British Columbia region then you can find it. It's a White/Tan 328 GTS S/N 80386. It's a beautiful car! After a quick search I found this thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=174427&highlight=%2A80386 OP in that thread found all services had been performed even though the mileage is shockingly low. Possible asking price in 8/01 was ~$140K. I'm sure you already know there aren't too many of these in this condition, as such the price will be much higher than average on this particular example. Let us know if you buy and how you intend to use it!
One point I'd make is that, while it's never a bad thing that service items that should be done have been done recently, this isn't the same as what long-term proper care might be -- i.e., if this car sat for 20 years and just had its first brake bleeding, that wouldn't be so great. Also, keeping a K-Jet fuel system in good shape for 20 years without driving it isn't so easy, and I wonder if some of the gearbox internals might be rusty -- I hope they rolled it around a little every few months over those 20 years just to lubricate the unsubmerged bits
Well, I would guess the car will be rolled onto a truck, rolled off the truck in a new location and the car will be stared it until it's sold again... imagine having cocktails in your garage whilst staring at the odometer.
Biggest issues are camshaft seals, shift shaft seals, belts, coolant hoses etc. I have my father's "garage queen" 89 GTS that sat undriven in a garage for 10 years. It only had 1358 miles when I got it. I had the car gone over throughly to make sure it would be in great shape for driving. Lots of rubber seals replaced. I did have them check the ring gear bolts, b/c around 10 years ago there was a notice from Ferrari they should be checked (it was not an actual recall), as some people with QVs and 328s experienced problems with them. When they checked the transmission I happened to drop by and they showed me the parts from the transmission which looked like brand new! No rust and obviously no wear and tear. Best regards, Dino
