The following four Ferrari chassis have been stolen from Tom Meade (in Westwood area of Los Angeles) while he has been in hospital recovering from a broken leg:

    275GTS (1965)

    365GT 2+2 (1969)

    250GTE (1961) serial number 2911

    250GT PF coupe (1961) serial number 1847

If anyone sees that someone is offering any combination of the above for sale, please PM or email me.

    Thank you in advance.

I've added two numbers to my original post and will add the remaining two tomorrow when Tom can provide them to me.

Sorry to hear that.........how can someone just walk away with 4 chassis, it's not an easy task to lift the four of them and drive away.

WTH man. I seriously hope you catch the culprits red-handed making a sale. Can these Chassis be used to make replicas?...

Thats a serious downside to this...That the criminals would use these chassis to make duplicate bodies to produce illegal replicas.

I'm guessing that the individual knew Tom well enough to be aware of the of the existence of the chassis and that Tom was away in hospital to pull this off. Time will tell.

So sorry to hear this unfortunate news. This kind of thing dampens my spirit to even think there are individuals who do such acts, especially if they were someone Tom knew. Speedy recovery. Jimmy

Call me naive, but...isn't the the Ferrari circle/community rather small? Wouldn't it be difficult to pass (or peddle) these items incognito?

I had nothing to do with this! I swear!

but yes it sounds like an inside job that will be busted with ease (as we saw last week w the 250PF in CT)

I hope that they wil be recovered quickly. And I believe they will. I believe that a smart criminal is an oxymoron. In the meantime, I'm really sorry for your loss Tom.

One would think that, but the tale of 0799 shows otherwise.

I hope they were stolen by a stupid crook! Like the guy that stole rare Porsche racing engines from a guy, then years later advertised them for sale on the same guy's forums.

That's terrible: keep your chin up Tom: Krasnavian has a major point here: the list of suspects can't be very long...

OMG, that's awful. He lives only a couple miles from here. The important thing is that he is healthy though. The theft certainly can't help but I hope he's doing alright. Those chassis can't be easily sold (unless they find their way to Japan) so I'd assume they'll be found reasonably quickly.

This needs to be on Autoblog, Autoweek, etc.

    That's just horrifying.

I hope our recent conversations on Tom's activities on the Off Topic list didn't give any clues to Tom's whereabouts at the moment. Keeping my fingers crossed for a speedy and undamaged return, and of course, for Tom's speedy recovery.

I'd be checking shipping containers at the port. Good place for them to hide, as well I am sure they will be leaving the country. I'd snoop around Long Beach and San Pedro. Don't underestimate these theives. You can't just hide these four chassis' anywhere. Significant planning went into this.

Thats some feat they achieved there. Were keys used or Gemi bars? No surrounding surveillance tapes at all?
Are the 4 stolen chassis insured? Got to ask the question which i dont want to offend anyone but is every thing straight in these credit crunching times? There are no Lord Brockets involved?
I hope every thing is straight and the thieves caught fast.
