Unfortunately the World Class Driving Experience doesn't have very many world class drivers.

 

Damn shame. I just drove that 599 at a WCD Xtreme event in Florida last weekend. I reached 198 MPH on the runway.

Everything about this story is really pathetic. The ugly side of the Ferrari story... No wonder Enzo hated most people that bought his cars...

For me, that's a new take on Enzo.

My impression's always been that he didn't care who bought road cars, as long as they bought them.

The most conspicuous exceptions would be Euro nobility that added to the mystique. I think Enzo enjoyed hanging with them anyway...he was a feudal baron, living in the 20th century.

 

Fabio and the 599 -- probably not what most Ferrari owners wanted to hear.

 

I probably used too strong a language with the "hated" part - I guess that's just my disgust every time I read a story of a celebrity destroying a piece of art and carelessly laughing it off later....

I have read various Enzo biographers talking about his lack of respect for certain types buying his road going cars...

Do you think they may have more than one 599? Perhaps you drove a different car because this happened 3,000 miles away. It would take a week just to get it there, and then more time to do a mechanical on it after being driven on a runway at 198 MPH in Florida. Perhaps they have at least one 599 on the East coast and at least one 599 on the West coast?

Mulholland Drive is a twisty winding road up and down through the mountains with limited visibility at times, so braking at high speed on a turn while driving in the wrong lane and trying to avoid oncoming traffic, cliffs and trees is negotiable only by experts, not Fabio.

 

Nope, just one 599 with very tired truck drivers.

 

He should avoid driving a Ferrari and stick to the butter commericials.
