It's an interesting custom approach, but shortening the front overhand and keeping the long rear overhang makes the profile really, really tough. Directionally, I like the "Scaglietti Corvette" front end, but it doesn't quite work in toto.

The owner-seller is a complete gentleman, and I think his frustration voiced in that thread was w/ the affect he saw dealers/brokers having on local shows; not that dealers/brokers are bad per se.

FWIW, Sheehan sold my Queen Mum in about 48 hours.

I tried to figure out how to edit my previous post, but couldn't. I don't want I said to seem like I'm trashing someone's ride - it's not to my taste, but I get what they tried to do, and I do think it's cool someone built what they wanted. I suspect given the quality (according to Sheehan) of the car, that it will probably sell quickly as well.

On a related note - is $129k a good price (knowing how subjective that term can be)... ?

That was supposedly a very nice car, I did not see it in person. The car for sale looks very nice and has had some work done on it since I saw it last.
Does anyone know the fate of the other 3 365 GT 2+2s that were for sale at Monterey?

It looks odd with no front bumpers but having the factory rear bumpers. Add 275GTB-style bumperettes and it would look more normal.

I'm probably one of the weirdos who would have preferred something like this over what the factory came up with. At least from the front, the 365 GT looks pretty good without the bumpers, IMHO.

+1, After seeing 365 2+2s w/o bumpers, it is amazing how much it transforms the image. It looks much shorter + the bumpers do their best to hide the contours of the bodywork.

I assume you aware the car in question has a fairly modified front end, which is why the image is "transformed." I like the look from head on, but it looks less balanced from the side.

Yes, that was a safe assumption, I own one without the "face lift." Most of the change in the front of his car seems to be the "Frenched in" driving lights and turn signals. It does not seem to me to be highly modified contours.

What I was using the term "transformed" for, was a stock 365 2+2 w/o the bumpers.

The rear bumper on a queen, hides what I feel is, a fairly stylish derriere. The classic Ferrari "scooped" rear panel appears quite flat, w/o the bottom contour visible (hidden by the bumper). The only problem after that is the big chrome taillight surrounds. IIRC, There was a prototype built, that did not have the chrome taillight bezels. IMO, it looked much better.

    Regards,
    Bill

I have a 365 project which has the bumpers off, and I have given serious thought to making a set of tiny contoured vertical bumperettes to install in the front bumper mounts (and perhaps a stylish turn signal to mount in the air-hole below the headlights). Totally reversable, and in my view makes the car look much better. The only issue is that the rear fender bumper bracket is welded onto the body, so that component would have to be ground off in order to add a "Daytona Style" rear bumper.

But isn't it tempting? It looks sooooo good.
