Tough to beat... Friend of mine (really) was cited for 155mph in a Corvette on 66W in NoVA. Reportedly, the third highest citation issued in VA at that time. He was sweating bullets leading up to his court appearance. When the day arrived, his attorney found that the LEO issuing the citation had left the force. All charges dismissed. There were traffic attorneys lining the walls of the courtroom, I heard, to hear the sentence on this one. He dodged a serious bullet. CW
A decade ago, a driver in a Corveet was clocked and stopped out near El Paso at 202 MPH. The Deputy gave him a warning because he did not want to haul the driver in and impound the car. There is a picture of the driver holding the warning ticket, the vete, and deputy circulating the internet.
Me and and a buddy passed a cop radaring on our streetbikes at about 130 mph... by the time he got in his car and started after us we were long gone! Didnt get a chance to write us up but that would have been the fastest and closest I have ever been. Image Unavailable, Please Login
1) I had put a Capristo exhaust on my 360 Spider in 2004. I took a friend of mine out for a ride to hear the exhaust. On a wide open stretch of road I went up to 130 and then back down and stopped at the light. Pulling up behind me was an unmarked cop car. He put on his lights and came up to my window and said: " I just gotta tell ya', that thing sounds f*&^ing amazing! Do me a favor and keep it down through here, alright?" I said, "yes sir" I was sweating like a pig. Absolutely couldn't believe it. 2) On a sunny Sunday morning at about 7 am in 2002, I took my girlfriend for a ride in my black 360 coupe over a long two span bridge here in Clearwater. There was no one in front of me on the two mile long bridge and I goosed it. As we hit 160, I looked to the left, and on the other span was a cop with a guy pulled over. His head spun around and his eyes almost popped out of his head. For the next 1/2 hour we kept one eye on the sky, fully expecting they had sent out a copter to look for us. Never happened. Close call.
140mph in a 1964 E-Type Jag between Nowhere, Az and the Hoover Dam, back in the '80s. Don't know the speed limit on that road, which was obviously the problem. Result: Caught by a plane, pulled over doing 20mph at the state border. $600 fine, car impounded until paid in full on the count that I was an out of state driver.
Your bike is a thing of beauty. I love Ducks. I resemble your experience. I will say no more than that.
110 MPH, HPD officer in a Camaro got me at the overlook H3 approaching the Kaneohe Marine Corps Air Station Main Gate the day after I got back from Desert Storm, so 20 years ago come April. I was driving my 1982 Chevy Malibu Classic. The fine was $80 I think, but suspended and I had to go to a Driver Safety Class.
kinda lame but ironic...got caught doing 85 on the freeway the other night in my Crown Vic. The irony is its an ex cop car and I NEVER get busted...People pull over for me, lol.
A few years ago I was driving around town with my son in my 355, doing the speed limit, when a cop started following me. I tried to take a few turns to lose him, but he was always right behind me. finally he pulled up next to me at a traffic light and he told me, with a smile, that I can't drive that thing slow. He then told me to "Punch-it". So I did. I must've almost doubled the speed limit. When I slowed down to let him catch up, he and his partner pulled up next to me as we were still driving and they looked like a couple of teenage boys gleaming with delight. Thumbs up and all. Very strange! On another occasion, a cop pulled up next to me a traffic light and started revving his engine. I guess we don't have enough ferraris in this city. I did finally get myself into a little trouble last summer doing 135km in a 70km zone. The ticket was for $875. So I guess not all cops here are easily humoured.
On the world famous Autobahn. BIG BMW. 115 in a 100 Zone. Kilometers Per Hour Zone, that is. 25 EURO ticket. HEY, YOU IMPLIED, "Caught."
Prob not the best idea for a thread, but I did once circle around to one of those radar trailers that has the speed limit and your speed in lights on the VFR Interceptor and hit it at 112.
I shamefully admit mine WAS in a residential area, speed limit 35. I did do the recon run to check for kids and dogs.....
103 for me. Wifey and I were on the way back from the french quarter classic in Nola where we had been hitting 180+ earlier in the day....difference is the cops knew we were tearing it up in Louisiana, I guess the Mississippi highway patrol didn't get that memo. Pulled over with us was a car full of illegal mexicans, so he had his hands full with those guys. Just wrote me for speeding, no reckless. Thank goodness.
Just so everyone knows, the Florida State Police don't take kindly to you doing 120 on their local tarmac. Not that I would know of course.
Got pulled over for overtaking 20 cars at a speed of 120MPH in my 77 Lancia Scorpion and did NOT gave me a ticket.
83 in a 25. Took license. Had to get wife to drive me down to the station to pick it up. Three tickets. Big hassle. Lesson learned.
I made the XX's pop up passing one at 100+ (empty highway of course). They're fun to play around with.
When towns/counties want to change speed limits on certain roads, often the speeds are recorded to find an average or "new" safe speed for vehicles. You are a glitch in the matrix with that speed, well done
Morning of my wedding last summer. Taking a buddy from Germany for a ride, accelerated hard up an on-ramp, undercover statey got me doing 85 (light traffic, both hands on wheel, no cell phone, in other words safer than most drivers around Milwaukee...) in a 55. No mercy. Lucky he didn't see us earlier.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
101 MPH in my 1969 Mustang Hardtop I was 18 and I had just swapped out the 6 cylinder for a 302 V8 and was "seeing what it could do". There was a spot on the local highway surrounded by rock (except for one slot in the rock) so I brought her up to 100 plus and was coasting when I ripped past that slot in the rock. Wouldnt you know that LEO was waiting for me in the rock formation and he came storming after me. I knew he was going to chase me down so I pulled over before he even turned on his lights. Officer: Son, how fast were you going? Umm, 69 miles per hour??, I prayed. Officer: I got you on radar going 101 MPH. Maybe I got a reflection off of those rocks? Im going to give you a warning - Slow Down.
