328 injector bushes

Your video demonstrates perfectly why F went to an Aluminum injector bushing with 2 o-rings on the later KE-Jet models

Don't buy the expensive stock F K-Jet plastic bushing 113309 -- better material and much better price from one of the 400i guys (Geert Jan) at:

Looks like a thoroughly modern solution. But it won't work unless the manifold has the slot for the c-clip that secures this style bushing in place. Is there a slot lurking under the nitrile bushing on 308s?

True, but, depending on your 308, I believe you may be able to restore the bushings and only buy new donuts.

 

are the 328 different from 84/85 QV?

 

If memory serves, the QV and 328 use the same bushings.
The earlier 308is use a different bushing.

 

Hey guys, my inexperience with my 328 (six weeks) doesn't allow me to know what is normal. What is considered too much "play" with the injector in the bushing before performance is affected? I have three or four that move around a bit but not too the degree in the above video. The rest are solid and tight. Would this be a part to replace as necessary or just do a wholesale swap "while you are in there"?

 

+1 84/85 QV's are the same as 328's. 83 QV's have a different setup.

 

The injector is secured in the bung by a single rubber doughnut seal. If that is reasonably new & still soft then the thing will move around a bit. All you care about is that its sealed. You should be able to tell by squirting some carb cleaner around the base of the injector when the engine is running. If it gets sucked in down the side of the injector & past the seal then you know you need to replace the thing because you have an air leak which will then screw up the idle.

 

Thank you. I purchased new seals and injectors but have not installed yet. Glad to hear the bushes may not be an issue. The car has the original steel injectors and based upon posts elsewhere I am hoping to get a little better performance.
