Test drive both and see which one you like better. We bought our '05 C320 this summer, the styling is a little more aggressive than on the older model.

The engine has plenty of power and the car feels more balanced than the 4-cyl supercharged model.

    Im gonna say go C-Class.

I have had NOTHING but problems with my 3-er. It is an 03 and has been in the shop 10 times for warranty work (a few times for repeat work) and is going in Thurs for more.

    Two clutches.
    Tranny
    Three window regulators.
door trip on passenger side, TWICE (seal)
    Headlight (twice)
    Paint (twice)
    CD player
    and more

seeing as how your on a Ferrari website I kind of assume you enjoy driving. I could be wrong. BMW and Mercedes are too totaly different driving experiences. If you want the sublime driving experience then only BMW will do. If you want to impress the neighbors then only the Merc will do. Just ask yourself, am I a poser or a driver?

Mercs arent poser-mobiles. He just has to decide if he was plush luxury or handling. MB is going to have nicer interiors and a more comfortable ride. The BMW is going to handle better, but be alot stiffer.

Aside from my issues with BMW (it went in today, and goes back on Friday for more stuff), its really that easy to choose.

Luxury or Handling. Pick one and then decide.

my wife has an 04 c230sport sedan and she loves it. she had a 98 328ic before that and she loved it also. my mother rode in my wife's benz and mom has a 04 c240 sedan now. my wife just told me that she thinks mbz is more classy and the bimmer is more sporty. I would have your sis try driving both and let her pick between the two. let her live and learn.

Get a Lexus ES 330. We've still got the original ES 300 my wife got in 1994 and its never let us down.

Unless your sister wants to get to know the service writer at the BMW or MB dealership...

This has not been my experience with BMW!

I own a 2002 M3 and there has been two issues with it so far:

1: Th window seals as you described below.
2: The Motorsport engine has a bearing recall so the cars
in the shop right now having the engine rebuilt.

There has been ZERO issues with this car otherwise.

Was your car an october build? October cars from Germany usually
    have issues...

I believe in the sport sedan segment, the IS300 is more of a contender versus the ES. Just my .02.

No clue, but Oktoberfest would be a likely excuse.

Get her a 2000 C230 and mod the car with the remaining money. The car is mostly the same (on the insaide) and it is actually faster then the newer models. My brother has one and he is thinking of doing some things to it. This car can be a really fast car with about $10,000.

You do realize you just repeated what I said in a slightly different way. I am not saying there is anything wrong with posing. I mean who the hell doesn't want to pull up in a sweet lookig ride in front of a bunch of girls or at the hot spot in town. Mercedes are better looking, more luxurious, more comfortable, higher status symbols and not nearly as good a drivers machine. Thus they are more suited for comfortable cruising and posing. Hell, I am about to buy one myself. I'm selling my M3 and my Ferrari to get an SL600. Decided I wanted a change.

Patrick said when he was starting this thread that the car was for his sister. she probably doesn't want ot pull up in front of a bunch of girls.

Both are good cars with style.

Mercedes has a more comfortable ride. IMO BMW offers the best combination of comfortability and sportiveness on this planet. If I wasn´t living in Germany (where we have just to many BMWs on the streets) I would drive one, too.
