Spare a thought for Ted Huglin.. prolific VIC member racer.... Phillip Island last weekend... Allan got pole for his race in it, and Ted got 3rd for the co-driver group.. A very good effort by him. Allan duly won his 5 lapper and Ted finished his one 3rd... recovering from the dreadful standing start of the F1 box which dropped him to 6th, to out race and pass Bill Pye... no mean feat. Then, in the 1 hour race.... Ted starts from pole, does a good job and is only 40 seconds behind the leader at the changeover... Allan gets in, enthralling race to catch and take the lead with 10 minutes to go... then with only 5 laps left... the gearbox output shaft breaks.. Car stops. Bugger. Here's a couple of pics from the recent Wakefield round. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
He's really improved. Is he still enjoying it? I've seen so many people lose their enthusiasm when things become more serious and competitive. Good for him, though.
This weekend hurt him. But he's used to racing horses.... he's shot over $1,000,000 of them. He wants to win the Wakefield 500, and if that happens... then an international.
Thanks. Looks better in the flesh too. Allan did a 1.36.08 (sportscar record) in the PI race in traffic on part used tyres, and we're having to watch rpm due to a F1 gear shift cyberglitch.... so it goes pretty good too..... Just need to get on top of the problems before the xmas 500 at Wakefield. "Near" Identical car for sale in Maranello Motorsport (with Red stripes), plus two ex Veloqx highly developed versions with manual sequential... one in show condition, both ready to race. Both Veloqx cars about 2-4% faster than F1 shifters, but many differences (ABS, Aero, weight, shocks etc etc)
Racing again at Eastern Creek this weekend... 2nd 3rd Dec Another 1 hr enduro with two drivers. Come and say hi if you can... note... NO racing for us on Sunday, only friday and saturday. Wakefield 500 has been cancelled due to lack of entries....
Anyone coming out then? See you there if so. I think we're in the marquees out the back... it's all glamour.
To finish the year off, with no Wakefiled 500, we hurried prep through and raced the Eastern Creek 1 hr Enduro. I saw a few Ferrari hats walking around, so if any of you were there, I hope you enjoyed it. We had the best weekend ever. The car ran perfectly, we made changes that made it faster, every possible bit of luck went our way (and more), the weather was perfect for every session, all the crew got rides (my first ever lap at the creek, some way to learn it!!... 1.35 is pass seat)... we got pole,(check it out, Allan pulled this one out from his special place), fastest lap and new lap records in every session....and we won the race..... AND it's was all done by 6pm sturday so we get to go home early!! Doesn't get any better than that.... qual http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi?04/12/2005.ARDC.Q1 race http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi?04/12/2005.ARDC.R3 pics to follow
Thanks Scott, Ted is very happy with our results as am I. The team came together and did a great job. Now looking forward to spending time trying to get an invite off the wife for xmas, after six of eight weekends away.
I hear that Ted's times are now pretty impressive too. Good to see Ted getting on top of things. Post some photo's if you have time.
Nice one Simon seeee, if you guys bothered to come and see some racing and Ferrari's.... you get bonus's too... Notice how the normal cars in the background doesn't even get it's screen cleaned... have to stop at traffic lights for that. .. Ferrari gets 4 girls and a hand, eerrr, job.
NO, crashing is expensive, racing a 360GT is not bad at Aussie level, only steep thing is engine work at Michelotto. But even that isn't as scary as it used to be. They seem to have got real on some things lately... Their alternators for one...
I suspect that Ted is spending a couple of hundred large a year having fun racing. Not good value for money for me; but I can see why Ted wants to do it.
