Does anyone know the correct part number for the door switches on my '85 QV? On the left is the original, on the right is the part that ItalianCarParts.com sent. I would prefer not to modify the door plate to make these fit. Thanks!

    Michael,

As Verell mentioned, that part is no longer available. This might be a viable alternative. I don't have the switch in hand so I can't check dimensions, but the door jamb switch for the 1965-7 Ford Mustang appears similar to the 308 switch except the plastic pin is black.

Verell, perhaps you can cast white plastic pins for this assembly and create a reproduction switch. Dallas Mustang sells these switches ($5.99):

Hmm, my brother in law has a '67 Mustang. I'll give that part a try and post results. Thanks.

    Michael,

As I mentioned, I'm not sure of the dimensions of the Mustang switch. The hole in your door jamb might have to be enlarged to accommodate this switch as the barrel appears a bit wider. There should be enough room in the recess for the slightly longer switch barrel. If you don't mind a black switch pin, you should be alright. Otherwise, Verell would be able to create a white pin and, if the switch can be opened, make the swap.

Keep us posted as there are many of us in need of this switch.

    Barry

Ebay seller cancelled the auction 12 hours before completion even though I was the high bidder! I guess I'll try ordering the 2 different types that Stoddard has and see which one fits.

I contacted the eBay seller, he doesn't have any more of them. I've also emailed the pictures to Stoddard to find out which switch is the one we're looking for -- I'll let you know, so there's no reason to buy both types.

The pix in the catalog has a black plunger. If it's otherwise the same, I might be able to reman the switch with a white one.

    Verell,

I know you'll be able to create a white plunger for the switch. The reproduction switch should create quite a demand!

The Mustang switch would probably work too. The barrel appears to be a bit wider and the hole in the door jamb might have to be enlarged a bit. The Mustang switch is, however, plentiful in supply and only $5.99 It's just a matter of how easily the case can be opened. But you can do anything!

I heard back from the Stoddard folks. Jean Slagle there told me that the white-plunger version that we have in the pictures is their part number 644.615.601.00 even though that doesn't match their website picture.

    There you have it!!

I look forward to hearing back from you. Actually, I couldn't care less if it's a white plunger or a black plunger as long as it is otherwise the exact switch. Of course, concours folks may want the white plunger, but I suspect that most judges would not notice it, or take off more than a quarter point even if they did notice it.

A little box arrived today from www.stoddard.com and the good news is - - - - that their part #644.615.601.00 is the EXACT replacement for my '85 308 door switch! Add this part to the short list of those that are no longer made of unobtanium!! Pic is of old switch on the left and new on the right. Thank you Mike C for helping provide closure to this issue!

I think Stoddard is going to be getting quite a few orders for these switches.
