When I see these great pics I always think, its only dry once. Almost too bad to drive it.
Do you do in house Jon? I found an outfit in the UK, Autosparks, good reviews. They make 3 Dino versions, but none for A/C cars.
I’ve done half a dozen myself but they are very time consuming for me to do. I have a guy back in San Diego (home) who makes them for me. He does a good job because he does the fuse board and relays also. I send him the old one and have him strip out things not needed. Most of them came prewired for ac and power windows. If the cars don’t have those things I have him strip out of the new harness. I also have him do the ignition so I only have one plug and can remove the whole thing very easily. I make some other changes to make them easier to work with. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Curious re actual weight of a steel body one of these? Anyone have theirs on a corner scale with fuel/oil/etc fabulous work as usual
More progress on getting this Dino back on the road after sitting in the owners barn for nearly 20 years. All the suspension is now on, fuel system, new fiberglass fitted, most of the wiring is hooked up and today we started on the interior. Headliner went in today which then made it possible to put in the front and rear glass. I always hold my breath putting in the rear windscreen in. Luckily all was a success! Your fuel tanks don't have the textured surface I always see and I've never seen those metal shields along the engine side of the tanks. Is that unique to this car or a little something added?
I think that’s the first action photo of someone reinstalling the rear glass. Thank you for sharing that. Not surprised it’s nurve racking. Do you have other action photos of this as the glass sides are massaged in? Kevin
The tanks are textured with the same stuff I've always used except you can't get beige anymore. Early cars had the aluminum shields on 2 sides of the tank and the tanks have welded bungs from the factory. You can only get the wurth product for the tanks in gray now so you have to now paint over the texture to try and get a close color.
My 206 had the fuel tank shield and the L model I have has the shields. This car is a 71 and had the shields. I've never seen them on later cars.
Dinoparts.de list them for 206 and 246 L, fuel tank heat shields. Maybe this car had them because USA prototype but weren't carried over. Hard to say, all I know this car had the heat shields and the tanks had welded on bungs to bolt them to the tanks with a little space between shield and tank. I replaced the old ones.
