Hi Giotto, I whish I could make the 1000 kms trip sooner, but it will take me at least a month to go and take a lot of pictures, it is a pitty no one showed me a bare chassis with the exact place to look for the different numbers.

That one I saw, but you also mentioned the Gilco number on the right side, and you were asked if u have a picture of 0304 just to have something to show to the owner.

Most (not all) Ferraris of that era had a Gilco frame number on the right and/or left front corner, at the bushings of the front suspension. Gilco is Gilberto Colombo (chassis frame builder). It ususally is a three part number stamped, giving type (such as 102 or 103, etc.), design (five digit such as 63178 or else) and evolution (E 4, or E 5, E 7, etc.) and/or an individual number. Mostly very dirty area there, overpainted, needs to be totally cleaned and removed from any paint to see those "secret" numbers. Here is a photo:

Thanks a lot Marcel that gives me an idea of where to look, I received last nite a very interesting transparency of 0302, made by Alfredo Zanellato Vignale nephew of Alfredo Vignale.

try to get as much pictures you can of the frame, the engine compartment, under the car and detail of every number (not only 0302TF) you can see on the frame.

May be the owner will have some original parts appart, who knows ?

Thanks and good luck Branko !!

The grille would have a body number or even the chassis number (or part of the number) stamped somewhere, under the red color.

Not a factory chassis stamp. Clearly a restamp.
Note also on lower left corner traces of old welding.

It would be wonderful indeed to be able to take a peek not only at the 03040's s/n, but also at the GILCO number- if there's one.

Santiago, something strange arises if you take a look in Barchetta about the 3 625 TFs 0302, 0304 and 0306, wonder if some of the specialists can bring us something.

Does anyone know who supplies Barchetta with the information? some of the cars that came to Venezuela have lots of mistakes in their info, I wonder if they will eventually correct it or keep the error forever.

I have collected much of the info posted on various threads on these cars in Venezuela. If you have questions let me know. There is still alot missing and probably always will be but thanks to the hard work of others in Venezuela some of the blanks are being filled in. Post your questions and we will see what we can do for you. just one man's opinion ntongascrew

Thanks a lot Tongascrew, one interesting fact to unveil some of the mistery is getting the 0304 serial number photo, it was asked a couple of times with no answer, wonder why?
So far I found that the chassis that we have is a tipo 501, there are a few pictures in the venezuelan forum, pay us a visit.
    Thanks again for your interest.

Branko, I saw your photos on your forum. So, you found the car. That's really fantastic. Congratulations. Good work. I hope you had a good trip. I have some questions:

    Do you have more photos?
Who is the man with the hat on the second photo?
Is the owner currently working on the car in order to restore it?
Could the owner give more informations about the history of his car?
Are there other original parts left? No engine?
Do you found more serial numbers?

It would be nice if someone could provide a photo with the #0304TF stamping to compare with #0302TF. Unfortunatelly, I don't have any.

Again, see the photo #4 in post 42 and the stamping photos in posts 40 and 56.

    Thanks again for the photos.

Can you post the photos on your forum for people to see directly here?
They are very interesting and show that the car is the one in post #27, and really seems to have a Ferrari chassis.
I wonder what would be found underneath if the welded on tab with the chassis number is removed?

Thanks GIOTTO, the trip was ok almost 1200 kms round trip.
Yes there are more photos, not many but there are.
The car was sitting in a very dark corner for years, the owner wants to keep it to play with in his retirement.
The history of the car is in the begining of the thread, if you are more specific would gladly answer if I know.
The good thing about this trip is that the mistery of the Ferrari Mercedes is finally unveiled, this is the car 100% sure.
One mistery remains, the serial number, and if it is 0302, who and when installed the Scaglietti body that ended up in this chassis.
The chassis is tipo 501 so it leaves out the speculations about 0534, 0562 and other beeing the Ferrari Mercedes
    branko
PS no traces of Gilco numbers.

Hi Tasman, usually the photos go in my forum first, but anyone is free to copy and paste elsewhere no problem.
It is the same car as in post 27 and yes it has a Ferrari chassis.
Wont be easy to convince to remove the plate I beleive, unless some other data shows up to convince him.
