Anyone help with the history?? Out of Venezula A true Barn Find. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wow, that is fantastic! Very impressive. Couldn't help you with more info on this one but if you have more photographs to share that would be great. The car was shipped in that container to the US? Cordiali saluti, Joren REMANS
Please tell us more Tom. (i.e., how long have you been trying to track this car down? Are you keeping it?, etc.) Thank you.
Gees Tom, and we thought the Boano s.n. 581 that we bought in the early 1980s and restored was in rough shape! How complete is this unit? Ed
Ed, Unsure, No inspection. Bought and paid for on poor photos, Lots of promises. Car arrives next week. No steering wheel and one spinner. That's all I know missing. Flying by the seat of my pants! Think I made a mistake? Could get an empty container. But I got a title! Announcement: For those who really know me, I want to keep this one. Too!
Tom, Congratulations! I like it. In addition to the spinners and steering wheel, it seems to be missing its paint . Good luck with it. I hope you put this one back together. Regards, Art S.
Congrats!! - That is going to be one sweet car, especially in alloy! I think I'd keep that one as well.
John, You mean I can not take this immediately to an FCA event? I have my appropriate hose clamps, handbooks and tools, and Ed Gilbertson said "Ferraris are meant to be drive!" This alloy Boano has been driven, I think. I don't want a trailer queen. What else on the engine should I correct before I show it, FCA 2006! I need help! Maybe I should have gotten a PPI by a Venezulian Ferrari professional. Damn ask question and find out these details after I buy a car, should have asked Fchatter. Probabaly would have caught things I missed and talked me out of it.
bring it to FCA 2006!! it could keep our beaten up warhorse company amidst all the pretty cars. they could even chat about their Venezuelan adventures . . .
See this is exactly the problems you can run into when you don't buy from a reputible Ferrari dealer. With a well done PPI I bet you would have found that the engine is not actually in the car.
Bill, The damn the chain cover not being black wrinkle would have been caught too in a PPI! Think it is even a Ferrari engine? I thought I would save a several hundred dollar from sending Patrick Ottis or Brian Brown to Venezula. I thought the owner was reputable, he sounded like he knew the car. I know what I am doing, I know how to buy a vintage Ferrari, I read all the buyers guides. How could I have missed this? Even Fchatter caught this! Do I have any legal recourse in Venezula? Seller also said the paint use to be nice, should buff out and second gear synchro was perfect. Shifted like butter. Hope it arrives soon, I am worried. Thanks folks for all your help.
It looks to me that the motor was pulled out of the car 20+ years ago (probably for a rebuild that was never done), and sat uncovered for all that time.
Wait a minute, you can get Patrick Ottis to Venezula for a few hundred bucks! Maybe I'll have him fly up and do service for me. It sounds pretty inexpensive.
I try to inject some seriousness into this thread, and I get blown out of the water....just like the motor
Tom, Great job! I do sense a certain amount of envy from others. I am sure you won't need it but if I can help with the project just let me know.
