Business, politics and corruption work hand in hand in Korea... I can't count how many such scandals happened so numerous they are...
Couldn't 0812 could be siezed if it were used as a vessel for hiding assets? Is the car still in LA or did it make it to Korea
AVG have that Korean link barred as a reported attack site. Have no idea of details but you might want to consider before going there.
I may be wrong but I think I saw 0812 under a tarp ready to be painted at Cremonini's either spring 2006 or in one of my Modena trips in 2007 (Cremonini is THE painter for major restorations in the Modena area).
Mr. Massini I still fail to see the connection between assumed, but disputed ownership claims in aforementioned posts and the "interesting........" (?) news article from Korea. Like I said, maybe it's me or ...? Sincerely, Timo
Mr. "Timo" Others may see what you fail to see. Oh, don't forget to fill in your profile.......19 posts since March 07 isn't that much yet. Or would you like to pm me personally? Marcel Massini
Dear Steve. I don't believe the discussion on the restoration of the car concerned her provenance (Chassis, gearbox, engine etc.), but on the accuracy of the restoration concerning the shape and details of the car. Of course, in the time of aluminium bodied racers, certain portions of the bodywork of those cars would change from race to race because of modifications (repairs, improving cooling, etc..). The point being made by some of us is when the owner decides to have a car restored to a certain specification (le mans 1964 here) he should make sure that the final result looks the most like the way the car was for that particular race. One basic -and simple- example concerns the number 22 painted on the car. It's not difficult, with all the pictures available, to have the paint match the historical pictures (post: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=138074688&postcount=67). More complicated concerns bodywork and body pannels shapes and cuts... But then again, pictures can help in making them as faithful as possible. I believe there are legitimates questions concerning those shapes and cuts... One comparison I have is that some model kit builders go to extreme pains to have their car as faithful as possible to the real one, why should the owner of such historical cars not have the same expectations? Best.
Not to distract of the fact that the owner has a wonderful car, I think that is a very fair comment. There is, of course, the question who is responsible for the inaccuracies, the owner or the contractor, which will remain un-answered without the relevant information. It is quite a scary thought though, that posting photos of the finished product here has the result that it will be marked as 'the car with the wanting restoration' until the faults have been rectified. I wonder how many faults would be found in posted pics of, for instance, a SWB after such a deep-going re-construction.
This car is now on display at the Simeone Foundation Museum in Philadelphia on loan from it's owner. Stop in to see the car along with other Ferrari's including a 250 TR, 375MM, and the Ferrari 365P show car. Erik
Mr. G, Unfortunately last week when I volunteered I did not have my camera. I will bring it and shoot some photos this Saturday unless someone else does before me. 0812 looks good in between the 917LH and the 250TR now there is a le man's car from the 60's in the line! Erik
Today was the last day for the car in the collection. The car has been sold, and was taken out to start shipment to its new owner. I was able to get some photos, and assist with the tranportation of the car from the museum to the trailer Erik Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
It was definitely cooler after the car was in the truck ready to leave. It was pretty nerve racking getting it in there! Erik
Sitting right next to a 288 GTO. It also has been seen bombing around Laguna Seca, PBIR (Moroso) and on the streets from Carmel to Hillsborough in California. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
0814 is still for sale so far as I know. The person who offered it to me described it with continuous history but with a replacement chassis. Some one who had worked on the car in the day said the original chassis was in a land fill in CT.
