Boudewijn copied a few and next year we're going to copy more. I'm seriously thinking about spending some time there. It's a wonderfull place.
I felt totally safe leaving 002C parked on the street as we went in for lunch.

I'll remember those words next time I have a fit over parking in public. You taking your precious possesions out onto public roads and even transport them abroad are such an inspiration!

I wish more collectors would follow your lead and bring out their treasures.

    Jim,

Just remember that a Ferrari 166 was stolen at Ferraris 50th (?) birthday party celebrations ... I guess they thought it was perfectly safe too :(

I do not know if it has been recovered yet ...

Sicilia is part of Italy but it's a bit different. A few years ago a french woman participating in the event had her handbag stolen. She happened to mention it to President of the Club. The next morning it was waiting for her at the breakfast table. It wasn't missing a single sou. Someone mentioned that that the population had decreased over the evening. I'm not sure whether or not that's true but I do recall driving past a small town named "Corleone"...

My experience of Sicily is that some poor person might steal a loaf of bread or a handful of coins to live, but if he stole something like a Ferrari, he would be hung in the streets by BOTH the townspeople and those in control.

    Hi
Your Targa shot is exactly as it is today! Your previous research, photo's, and the ACO stamps on my gearbox have proven long ago that the gearbox that is now in my car is 1966 P3 not F1. The "CERTIFICATE OF ORIGIN" that David signed where he unequivocally stated that my chassis was built to: "1967 Ferrari 330 P4... original 1967 chassis drawings" that had been given to him by Enzo Ferrari and the auction description where he certified, the certification of which was confirmed by Doug Nye as being believed to be true by David that: "Improvements to the car include a P4-style chassis centre section " prove once and for all that David really didn't know exactly what the chassis he sold me was either.

    Hi Jim

I'd just love to find a clear photo from Sebring, Monza, Spa, Nurburg or Le Mans 1966 showing unequivocally that Ferrari used your box, and didn't use the ZF box until the P3/4 debut at Daytona 1967!

Did you find anything of the old Siracusa road circuit?

    Hi
A photo would be nice but 0846's official press photo shows that box and the ACO stamps speak for themselves. Next year, armed with your maps I will.

Jim! I'm speachless. This thread rocks. You are an inspiration to us all. I wish I was there to watch such cars race. Maybe one day soon.

At least I got to see 0846 on display at the Toronto Auto Show this past winter.

    Cheers,

    Vasco

    Jim,

Your words are bringing tears to my eyes.

You really should write up an article for Forza, Prancing Horse or Cavallino, about your trip and share your experience with fellow Tifosi.

    What an incredible adventure!

    Gary

PS: My mother's parents came over from Sicily in the early 1900s and settled in Tacoma, WA. I really need to get back to Italy and check out my roots.

While looking for shots of 0442M this weekend, I found a couple of other fun ones of the '97 FCA National, particularly of 002C before it found its way into Mr. G's stable.
    First - 002C, 008M and 0556(0446)MD.
Second - my dad getting out of 002C w/ Bill Noon at the wheel (i think I've posted this one before, but scanned it backwards which caused some confusion re: LHD or RHD)
Third - me in 0556(0446)MD when it was still red
Fourth - taken yesterday - me and Eastwood's "de-kote" removing the red.

I saw it somewhere. I think it an Alfa that came in first. I'll try and find out.

perhaps this has been spoken of before, but i didn't find anything in the archives.
i remember that (back in 'the days') david piper set the south african land speed record in a p3/4. have you got any idea if this was done with 0846?

That would have been with 0854 (which Piper owned and ran for longer in green than Maranello Concessionaires did in red/blue, BTW).

That would be the 593 P3 box that's in her now. You'll be happy know we've located a 603 box for 0846 which we'll install in the winter when we turn her back into her proper spyder configuration.
