Hi, there, I was just offered an opportunity to purchase a 812 gts for 100k over sticker. I love it, but I am torn between 458 SA vs 812 gts now that the opportunity of choice happens. My wife love the gts and she is willing to trade in her FF. If I get the SA, I will trade in the 458. I think the delta of excitement will be greater in the gts from FF by miles, but it may be smaller from 458 to SA...

    Thoughts?

IIRC the GTS is not going to be limited in production and thus will depreciate over time, and as such you likely will be able to pick up at MSRP (or <$100K over) in a year or so.
The 458 SA is going to remain special sauce possibly forever.
Depends on your eagerness, your ability to choose the spec closest to your heart.
For me I’d get an SA and wait out the GTS mania that is going to flow then ebb.

Want the latest and greatest, get the gts. But you'll lose more vs the speciale aperta....Or just get both? Cause why not

what does it mean when Ferrari says low production numbers? They say the gts is a “limited run, with low production numbers.” No doubt they will far exceed the production numbers of the SA... but I wonder what the actual numbers look like

I just gave up my 2022 allocation because I found an F12 tailor made that I’m planning on keeping long term. I think it will price more like a 488 spider than an aperta, pista, etc.

Seems to be a very personal decision based on whether you want a gorgeous brand new V12 supercar cruiser with warranty and 7 yr maintenance pack that Ferrari hasn't done in a long time, or the intense "track" VS V8 knowing it's the last NA V8, very limited run, almost out of free maintenance, and out of warranty. Two different droptops.

Between the two, I would go 458 SA. I love the VS variants, and limited edition appeal. YMMV.

As much as I like the GTS, and while it for all intended purposes is fairly low volume, that deal sounds utterly insane. I'm not in touch with the US market, but still. A bit over for what is obviously an early US delivery, but a hundred grand over? Take the 458 SA, get that out of your system, buy a used GTS in a year and pocket an additional 50-100k when you trade the 458SA for the GTS.

It probably won't hold its price like a Pista Spider, but it will more than likely hold its value better than a F8 Spider etc. Probably hold value similar to a Pista or Speciale.

458 SA is the last NA V8 limited production to 499 units i believe. it will hold its value but you can't put too many miles on it or it will start dropping. double edged sword but i would take the 458 SA.

Production limited by time just means absolutely nothing... I hate it! Every single car on earth has a production limited by time. The SA is a known keeper. Providing you take good care of it and dont put too many miles on it (especially if you are in the US) you will limit the loss. You are guaranteed to lose at least 100K, probably much more on the GTS. I would not play the dealer's game and get the SA now. You can still spec and wait for your own GTS while you enjoy your SA.

I would look at things this way and decide

1: Do you want a car to look at and put limited mileage on if you want to retain value= 458 SA
2: Buy the GTS over MSRP and your depreciation drop will be much higher than if you bought the 458 SA and put mileage on it.
3: FF, not sure how those are holding in the US but any gain on trade in on the FF might offset some of the over MSRP on the GTS?

Driving patterns, daily driver? Track? Cross country drives?

Cant go wrong with either of these cars in my opinion.

Lov volume is limited by more than just time. It is limited by how many cars Ferrari choose to produce per week. Are they cranking them out as fast as they can, or are the choosing to make 12 per week when they have the capacity to make say, 20? That is part of it. Do they choose to delay production start so that there is an artificially made start date? That's another thing. But limited run is a poor war of describing something that is not regulated by a set number or produced fkr a very specific short time frame. That's why I use the term low volume as opposed to limited. Does low volume matter? Absolutely. Not as much as limited numbers, but it matters.

Ferrari market is changing very quickly . IMHO they will produce more GTS than SF and you already see high depreciation on SF even if only around 2500 are been produced.

SA all day to Sunday buddy, its limited and a keeper car! I have been looking for a Canadian one forever and there are zero here for sale. BTW you will 100% be able to get a GTS at list in a matter of 12 months - forget the hype of the first car.. just grab the SA and put a deposit down on a GTS to order or look for one in 12 months.
