Perhaps it is the Algar car? If not, a good deal. I'm sure it's legit (I believe in Santa too) Happy Holidays Lee
This F50 is still for sale...Wow..I can't believe it!! Something must be wrong because it was been for sale since this summer and look at the price! No one wants it!?
Notice the foreign plates and that line about "all service done with importer." Probably a non-existent car, anyone wanna bite and see what happens?
I tried VIN check, but it doesn't work on that VIN??? The reason for it could be that it's a european car and never been registered in the US. Anyone knows that it was/is possible to import a european F50 into the US. If not, that could be a reason for the low price. I saw about a month ago an advertisement on a belgian 2nd hand car site of a grey F50 for 110,000 euro. Pic was from Auto-Salon-Singen, but the car was (?) in Belgium. But advertisent isn't any more on the site
its in Europe. Its not in the us. importing a euro F50 = basically impossible, not worth the time or the money
It's not the same VIN as the F50 stolen from Algar (Algar F50 VIN: ZFFTG46AXS0103494- i carry it around with me in my wallet, don't ask...) Something's GOTTA be wrong with this thing beyond severity or, like others said, it's just bogus... There was an F50 in FoLI, for sale @ $735,000... $130,000 is just crazy.
A BIT OFF TOPIC BUT...what time is it where you are now Des??and where are you. I'm in Spain and its 3:15 am 25 Dec!!
I got in touch with seller and he seems like a nice guy and said the following- the car is located in Indonesia, is a euro model from 1997 and will sell it for 130k on the spot. This is one of those things where it seems WAYY to good to be true, but if it is true and you didn't act on it, then you'd be kicking yourself for the rest of your life. If I was in Europe/Asia I would definetly look into this car further.
from indonesia, this sounds like the same guy who had several 360's and an f40 for sale, i think i saw them at autotrader.com, i had one of our members (from that part of the world) contact the seller about a 360, the seller said he would only deal with the buyer and not a middle man, who knows if its legit
Indonesia? 130,000k I have a F50 on the moon and its only $120,000 I know its about as far away as Indonesia, but I'm only willing to show the car if you come to the moon, otherwise send a 10% deposit check
Can 97s be imported? Does anyone know what the cost would be? It is about 20 grand for a 360 (correct?) so if it's around $50k for an f50, you have a supercar for the price of a 360 spyder new. There are a few advertised for around $600K. Has anyone heard of any changing hands lately (legally, not stolen!)? I saw that on the epa's website that 1995 Ferrari F50's are eligible for import. Maybe they just forgot to include 1995(-1997). You can get a show and display title for historically significant or limited vehicles but I would want to drive the car more than 2500 miles per year. Any input is appreciated. ED
i was under the impression no f50's were allowed to be imported because there was a US version. I read an article on importing a euro f50 and they had to turn it into a race car, and so making it not street legal. it isn't worth the effort. a man named gerd petric down in florida has one, i belive it took about 200k just for the changes to make it legal. he also has a clk-gtr (not legally here) and had 2 mclaren f1s and has tons of other rare euro cars that are for sale: http://www.westcoastmotor.com
Here is a two-part article by Michael Sheehan about the trials and tribulations of importing an F50. Very sad and amusing - you'll love the "Coke can test". http://www.ferraris-online.com/Articles/SCM_0106.html http://www.ferraris-online.com/Articles/SCM_0108.html
KennyH, can I have the contact info so that I can check it out? I am in HK and report to you all what the deal is.
"From our perspective, a reasonable test to determine whether an F50 is actually a race car would be to see how quickly it could roll over a group of EPA bureaucrats." I'd love to see that one. Really.
Why are those EPA and DOTs bureaucrats such *******s ? FFS , this coke can test is really the proof of their idiocy. They should all be hanged at this year FCA 10th year anniversary.
