Interesting car, I’m always curious on how many cars of this era had the factory blue interior. This is the first I’ve seen with a dark blue carpet as most are usually black. Hope the original seats are intact. Seems more popular than I thought as the yellow and tartan trim interiors seem most infrequent in the US market. I love the odd interiors options which were available on these cars.
Story from the Jan 1980 RMR Newsletter on the 1979 930 Turbo last 50 U.S. production. Interesting perspective as it mentions that some dealers were asking $100,000 which is equivalent to $342,607 in today’s dollars. So…in 1980, if you had bought $100,000 worth of gold at $35 per ounce what would it be worth today? With today's gold price at $1,333 per ounce it would be worth $3,808,571. . 1979 930 featured in Rennlist article today. https://rennlist.com/articles/1979-930/ While this Casablanca Beige 930 gets high marks from Rennlist, there are a few items that might benefit from a return to originality. Although the polished Fuchs certainly stand out on this '79, the first item that needs addressing is the incorrect 930 701 112 01 Door Jamb sticker (only used for the 1978 Model Year). You'll need to go to the Classic Cars.com site (https://classiccars.com/listings/view/1020645/1979-porsche-930-turbo-for-sale-in-boulder-creek-california-95006) to see a picture of the Door Jamb sticker for 9309800290. All US imported 1979 MY 930 Door Jamb stinkers were either 930 701 112 04 or 930 701 112 05. The 1979 MY stickers had all 3 vehicle weights arranged on one horizontal line (upper center) rather than stacked to the lower left (as in the 1978 MY version) shown for 9309800290. . . This Petersen Museum picture reminds me of how the 930's Big Brother, the 935, evolved to the status of champion. In this case, as the 1979 24 Hours of LeMans #41 Porsche 935 K3 overall winning entry. . Image Unavailable, Please Login
This was why I started this special thread about the '78 and '79 930's. They were at the peak in 1979 with that car/race result. The productions cars benefitted directly. Big thanks to all who have contributed so much more than I ever knew.

Here’s a 1980 Porsche 356 Registry ad for 9309801166. If it actually sold for $150,000, with the inflation calculator it would be equivalent to $446,213 today. Twenty four years later, it was listed for sale in the November 2004 Panorama Magazine for $27,500, equivalent to $36,084 today. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

1979 939 #9309801132 sold on Bring a Trailer last month after previously being listed on Rennlist last September. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1979-porsche-930-turbo-13/ Interestingly, this is another non-Last 50 example that shows a build date of 12/79. Except for the usual 85 MPH Speedometer swap-out, it appears to check most of the boxes for originallity, and although the correct "raised knob" radio was not installed, at least it was offered as part of the sale. #1132 includes the 928.006.521.00 window sticker. . The ONLY other wheel I would have considered for use on a 930 besides the factory provided Fuchs. They may be heavy? Great lookers for sure. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1981-ruf-speedline-wheel-for-930-turbo/ Predicting they fetch as much as $7,500.?
This was another example of a premium being paid for a low-mileage Turbo with dubious actual mileage since the original 85 mph speedometer was swapped out with no records…the Ferrari/Lamborghini low-mileage premium syndrome being applied to a 1979 Porsche 930 Turbo but without true documentation. I’ve yet to see any “low-mileage” 930 Turbo for sale with a quick photo of the date stamp on the VDO speedometer. So easy to do and for this example it would be an obvious red flag since the date stamp was likely years after the 12/79 production date.

Did anyone checkout this Porsche 930 at Luftgekühlt 5? I’m curious what makes it a 1980 Porsche 930 special edition. Stated to have just 60 miles but is it 1980 RoW or a U.S. 1979 930 with 85 mph speedo? http://www.sportscardigest.com/luftgekuhlt-2018-report-photos/4/?envira_id=278848#envira-gallery-wrap-278848 Image Unavailable, Please Login
. Hum??? NA Front wraparound amber and Rear red lenses. NA Large Rear bumper block. NA Ride Height. Shorty Front headlight washer nozzles. '78/'79 Single exhaust outlet. Pre-'84 Front valance and Fogs. 1979 MY NA 930 (2nd Production Series), manufactured concurrently with (the usual) production grouping for 1980 MY? I too am curious if anyone saw or knows this 930 and might be able to help. .
