nice looking turbo! i am now on my 3rd 930. each time i sold i ended up buying another as there was never anything i really wanted to or that could replace it in the price range (427 cobras are a bit pricey ;) ).

what will you buy to fill the garage bay if you sell? i also hope you hold out for the right buyer and the right money!!!!

If anyone can help with value, let me know. Looked on Autotrader.com. 1987's with less than 20k miles asking prices for original vehicles is 50-55k. I was going to start between 45-50k. Car has also had black wool seat covers on for the entire life of the car, so the seat leather condition will be basically brand new.

i hope you can get it, but i see many of these (comparable to yours) listed in the 20 to 25k range with some selling down to the high teens.

Mattyrae- if you are in the Porsche Club of America that is the best place to start to put the car for sale, where the condition of the car will be appreciated and in general people are willing to pay extra for a car that deserves it. If you are not a member, I would join (it's something like $42 or $46 for a year) just to get access to the classifieds where you can place an ad for free as a member. The advertisement goes on PCA's website, and in the monthly nationwide magazine (Panorama). You can also place in ad for free in the regional PCA magazine for your location.

I did this with my 26,000 mile 1993 cabriolet, and had lots of inquiries within days before the magazine even was published. The buyer of my car was from Germany.

Anyway, this is the route you should go with what sounds like an all original low mileage clean car. You dad would certinly want it to go to a porsche fanatic as PCA members typically are. I would have sent this via PM, but am posting it here to counter folks (or a person) claiming the car is worth in the teens to mid $20's- a standard non-turbo '87 Carrera in this condition/mileage would sell in the mid $20's if not more (not asking price, actual selling price)- this car is worth much more. I wish I could buy it!

Good luck with the sale process! You're getting close to the sweet season of the selling market- spring is best to sell sports cars.

Sorry i should have made a made a comment on those 2 POS 930s. BTW i think you have a $42-$45k 930 easy. Just don't sell it BJ or you won't get what it is worth. Sloan has an 87 FS with slightly less miles than yours which should make you feel better.

your asking price is NOT out of line and frankly possibly a bit light. richard sloan would value his car @ over $50k and i promise you that a discriminating buyer will eventually come along and buy it...never having any buyers remorse.

you have a great and pride of ownership car matty. hold out for the person that deserves to be its next caretaker.

    best,

Guess I need to find the old Blaupunkt cassette radio, probably increase the value another 10k? :)

He is asking full retail. Think my Dad paid around $62000, before tax, can't remember exactly, I just remember he wanted a 911 Carrera with the Turbo body, it was about the same price as the Turbo, so I talked him into getting the Turbo.

the details such as the radio mean alot as the car gets older. Last week I picked up a late 70s Porsche blaupunkt for my 79 930. it works and comstically it is "ok', but i found the exact one i need for my 79 i am trying to work a deal on. i still have the origional blaupunkt for my 88 cab in a box to keep.

Hatch and sons had an 89 930 with 25k miles and they were asking 68,900 for it. They did sell it not sure what they got but I think 50k for your car is definately not out of line.

nice car. i've seen nice examples in the 20s, they just have higher miles. I had no idea low mileage examples of these went for 50k though. I'd have thought high 30s tops but if you can get 50 more power to you.

    20's get you a driver.

  17. Yes, I recently purchased mine. There are more dogs than cream puffs. Since this is a Ferrari site, I think the 3X8 market is similar. There seems to be many that feel like a 3x8 couldn't be a higher dollar car as well. Always 30k less than a 360 stuff, etc. Ferrari made around 24,232 3X8's (counted from the 308 GT4 to the end of the 328 run). Porsche made 21,589 930's (until 1989). I can find a running 3x8 in the low to mid 20's as well. It gets down to condition! Everyone wants a low mileage, no accident (and preferably original paint), records, service work, books, tool kit, spare tire, no stories car. A 3X8 that passes this list is not a cheap car. Same thing on a 930 imo.

i agree the 3x8 market are very similar.

here is another data point for an 87 930:
