Other man's junk ... By the way, Saint Michaels is a nice area. Used to live in McLean, VA and during summer time to take rides to Ocean City, Bethany Beach, etc.
Rather silly, isn't it? Folks really expect no one to have enjoyed these things over the course of thirty plus freakin' years? It's insane. People like that deserve rollback cars I think you made a great choice. Give me a car I can run and drive and love and not feel like I have to bubble wrap every time I park it. Yuck. Congrats!!
Not entirely true. This 66k mile 348 brought great money I thought. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1991-ferrari-348-9/ 911 prices are insane. Truly nuts. I refuse to buy into any of that. It’s like the thinking is “these cars are really well-built and reliable so let me way over pay for one and in turn completely negate the value proposition”. I don’t get it.
My well driven (now 98 tkm/61k mile) 384 has lately shown some symptoms of not always starting when turning the key. A time for a starter relay. A whopping 10€ investment all together. Image Unavailable, Please Login This seems to fix the issue. The installation at the starter end is less than clean looking even if I hid it as well as I could using black braided sleeving. I will move it under the fuse box at passenger footwell once the driving seasons ends here in frozen tundra. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/348-starter-relay-modification.202861/
Thank you, Sir. Some work is needed and it certainly is not a concourse sample but still rides like a street legal go-kart.
A bit tired triangle, wouldn't you agree? Image Unavailable, Please Login Not to worry. New stuff coming in. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Also pretty decent looking Ferodos Image Unavailable, Please Login got swapped to EBC Red Stuff as they squeaked and screamed horribly. And also new rotors went in, the old ones were a bit worn and had a small shoulder. As such changing the rotors and pads was a very straight forward process except shimming took some time. I have and have had 4 - 6 pot Brembos in many of my previous and current toys and as an observation Teves / ATE calibers were really light weight compared to Brembos.
Finnish equivalent of WSJ or FT, Kauppalehti run an article about older vehicles and commented following about 348: https://www.kauppalehti.fi/uutiset/aikakone-ysarille-no-nyt-on-harvinainen-mersu/08024e0f-023c-4b3b-9ccb-d68c803b2a5e "Today's sports cars are easy to drive, and anyone can get behind the wheel of a modern Ferrari. The Ferrari 348 of the early 1990s, on the other hand, was a flying coffin wrapped in defiant shell, the control of Ferrari 348 required at least moderate experience in track and racing cars." It seems that I have to renew my way back expired V1600 class license or something to be able drive this "flying coffin"....
Now when raking the maple leaves season is turning to first snow season, It is time to prepare 348 for 2024 driving season. Changing the belts as old ones look and feel a bit tired. Doesn't require engine out treatment this time around. Image Unavailable, Please Login Every car requires at least few titanium components, right? I got mine from Red Bay Cars. https://www.redbaycars.com/webshop.html#!/ferrari-348/products/rear-view-mirror-inner-cover-plate-lh-rh-part-nrs-62188800-and-62188700 These are reproduction units and at least for my car some minor filing and exacto knife job was needed to get a perfect fit. Looking good now after some tinkering and fine tuning. It could be that in my case the old window seals were causing the need for modification.
First start after winter hibernation and installing a new Stainless Steel exhaust. An innovative way to roast marshmallows? (or packaging peanuts..)
I have them on both 348 and Alfa 916 Spider V6 and I really like them. Good bite even at cold, no noise and very little brake dust.
Nice, have stock pads. Have not driven her in 2 months, such a fun car. Image Unavailable, Please Login
