This is the biggest red flag for me. For this to be true, Buckley would had to have bought the car new but according to others this is not the case.
When I received the title from him it showed it was never registered in his name. Everything he told me was a lie looking back on it. Might be the case here as well he did not own the TR from new. He did have the blue 355 mentioned in earlier threads and some 308s one with Norwood turbo. Don't know for sure only the 355 and the car I purchased were seen but he talked about cars he owned and the TR was never mentioned. Most likely lies as well. Sadly it wouldn't be the first time something like that has happened. The FChat police, as they are known, have flushed out some of the biggest scumbags in the Ferrari world on this site as well as complete ownage of some of the biggest posers too. They smell a bit of blood in the water here because of Tristam but I think it's unwarranted in this case. As far as the price, can't say, but if you think it's where it should be then stick to your guns. Worst case is you keep the car. That sounds like win-win to me.
Do you remember what year and month he had the Norwood 308? What color was it and how did it look? Thanks
I never saw it so I can not comment on that. Tristram just told me what cars he owned and he made specific reference to a 308 with a Norwood turbo on it back when I dealt with him in 2007. At that time in the car park under the apartment where he lives he only had the blue 355 which to be honest don't recall having a red interior and the Mondial T I should have walked away from. The month in that year would have been right about this time of year Feb - Mar -07
Does anyone know exactly how many yellow/black 512 TR's exist. TR registry is showing 1 in this color combination. Is this accurate?
I thought that I saw that you posted that somewhere. Thanks for the info. So we can now conclude that there are at least (2) yellow/black 512 TR's out of XXXX. So this is truly one rare color combination. I know alot of people prefer red but I think that it looks amazing in yellow when I drive it to cars and coffee among the other 20+ red/tan ferraris.
Dino with the Straman convertible I now have 5 yellow/black in the registry. Try ask Edvar on red-headed.com http://red-headed.com/
Are they 512's. This is what I was referring to. Regardless there are a very limited number of yellow testarossas period. I am crazy over yellow. Wouldn't own a red one. Own a white/chocolate 328 GTS and love that it isn't red!
I rarely log in here now but when I do every time there's more falsity. You state I described a car as "perfect." Please post the description for the Mondial that you responded to and let's forget the fact for a moment that you saw the car in person and did not just rely on the words in an advertisement. No car is perfect, not even cars on the grass at Pebble Beach. I would NEVER describe any car as perfect! So you think I'm going to describe a nearly 20 year old Mondial as "perfect?" A Mondial? The car at the bottom of the Ferrari food chain? What you're saying is total BS. The car was NOT misdescribed AND you say you saw and inspected it in person. Do you recall what you paid for the 18k mile Mondial? It was no where near retail and in fact below market value. I told you the service was NOT done by me. I passed onto you an invoice that I had been given with the car which showed a detailed $7,035.97 service having been performed. (Yes, I still have a digital image of that invoice as well as dozens of photos of the car.) You say the description was way off. Please POST the description. Enough of this BS. Oh, and FYI, the Le Mans blue 355 was not in my garage...you are wrong on that count as well. I will bet you a Ferrari I never said the car was "perfect," a word you use more than once to state specifically how I described the car. I posted a bunch of photos of the nearly two decade old unrestored white Mondial....that you saw in person! I never said the car was "perfect" or that it had a "perfect history." Moreover, if a month later the alternator or starter fails how is that my fault? Starters and alternators typically work or they don't. Not like I could hide the starter not working! PLEASE POST THE LISTING WITH THE DESCRIPTION SO WE CAN ALL SEE HOW I MIS-DESCRIBED THE MONDIAL AND PULLED THE WOOL OVER YOUR EYES. This sounds a lot like the guy who bought a 308 after inspecting the car in person and then complains later about the paint and interior, as though I hypnotized him so he couldn't see the paint and interior before he purchased the car.
Perfect example of what I'm talking about. Let's see...."Ferrari Chat" a person who has decades experience with these cars including several visits to the Factory being chastised on his listing for a unique 355 for sale by a guy who (schefdeh) who aspires to owning a 355 and whose history shows he's owned zero such cars but instead apparently has had a collection of bikes and I'm not talking collectible bikes. Perfect exemplification. ...and let's not forget DrStranglove....owner of a 348....clearly giving sage advice for Ferrari owners and collectors as he exhibits his appreciation of Ferrari by owning what the President of Ferrari himself called the "worst product Ferrari had developed for some time." Sorry strangelove, criticize my unique Le mans blue over bordeaux 355 spider with $6000 plus HRE wheels all you want, but that one car alone is a lot nicer a ride than what you've got in your garage. Now, if I'm wrong and you're really harboring a nice 250SWB please correct me. Well aware of the Ferrari 348s shortcomings was Ferraris new CEO, Luca Cordero di Montezemolo. I had just bought a new 348, he said in an interview with Automobile a decade after he took the helm at Ferrari, and with the exception of its good looks I was utterly disappointed. This was clearly the worst product Ferrari had developed for some time.
Tristram I did not know you from adam before I bought the 512 TR from you and I can say that although the car was not perfect, you did note that it was in an accident and I had to perform my own due diligence which I did by having Black Horse inspect the car. You did suggest them but did not twist my arm to use them. I just felt that they had a good reputation from my own research and that this would work out since they were a qualified shop to perform the inspection. Richard told me that the car was absolutely gorgeous in like-new condition and told me that I would be very happy with the car. I moved forward and purchased the car. You also promised to have the engine out service performed while at the shop as part of our agreed purchase price of $95K. I still believe I got a good deal and the person that buys the car from me will get a good deal. I really didn't care at that point what you made or lost on the car . I must admit that the transaction was not the smoothest but I must admit that you resolved all of my concerns and made everything right. The car showed up at my house as represented. Had an issue with a parking brake light that required some attention that I had some wiring repaired but other than that it was as advertised. It would have been nice to have gotten reimbursed for some of that expense but that doesn't necessarily make you a bad guy that you declined to do so. That is business and I acknowledged that I was buying a used car. After driving the car a couple hundred miles I had to replace the battery and starter. You had nothing to do with this as it is a used exotic car that required maintenance if it has not been driven for a while. So I have about $2800.00 in maintenance costs but in the big picture this is the price you pay to drive a 22 year old ferrari. I am not defending you by an means. I owe you nothing, you owe me nothing, I just wanted to say that overall I had a satisfactory experience with you. No not perfect but I am pleased with my car and still get a rush every time I turn the key, It is beautiful with its 18,200 miles and accident history. It is still a real 512 TR Ferrari at the end of the day. Drive your car and I assure you that it will not be perfect! Like Roy Cats says"there is no such thing as a perfect car". He is one of the most reputable Exotic car dealers in the country. Can't we all just get along. These negative posts are getting to be ridiculous. Tristram I think for the record that it is determined by Ferrari Chat that you are not perfect. Join the club.
