You said you register all your cars, but how do you get around having to pay the sales tax? In NY a $165,000 car that's registered ends up costing $179,644 with Sales Tax. Hardly flip friendly...
the fact that u registered it illustrates to me that u didn't intend on flipping the car - financially it wld be futile fwiw

Ebay is often just a way to get exposure of a vehicle like that to potential buyers, and then deals are worked out privately on the side - I wouldn't let that hold me back if I was interested.

The other way to make it possible to register the car in NY and avoid paying sales tax is to have a tax resale number - that would be a dealer.
