1999 or euro headers on US 360

    Hi guys, I have 2003 F360 US model with 12k miles. I would like at one point to get rid of the stock headers with precat to prevent possible headache in the future.
    Anybody installed 1999 headers or euro headers as they are stock and without precat? Would they work? Do they cause a CEL? And how to manage the O2 rail that comes with the US cars after 1999?

    On later us cars than 1999 they will trigger a CEL unless you get the codes disabled. An ecu reflash is required. Search Ferrari SAK tool for more information. Lots of posts about it.

    It is amazing how limited the options we have to solve this issue. I'm aware of Tubi and fabspeed headers beside stock used Ferrari that still has the same problem. Am I missing any other option that get rid off of the precat and does not cause a CEL?

    Some have success w the little mini o2 sensor cats extenders. I’ll try these 1st. Then just get the tune if I get cel.

    I put on Fabspeed headers and cats last year, no CEL or emissions problems. No extenders needed. I have a 2002 360 Modena. I used Ron Reineke in Tucker, GA to perform the work. Where are you located?

    Here is what Ron told me when I asked if he did anything special so as not to get a CEL, "nothing special ,We just made sure the timing is right on. and no intake exhaust leaks."

    So you put headers and cats not just headers. Would the cats play a role in avoiding CEL in comparison of just changing the headers?

    Yes headers and cats were put on. My mechanic says they did nothing else special, no CEL.

    My Extenders worked fine too. After initial header and extender install we had to clear a couple codes, but it has now been several years and have been CEL free.

    So you have US car with euro or 1999 stock headers with extenders? What did you do with the air rail?

    Does anyone know if I can put the euro exhaust manifold (no precat, no air rail) on 03 US spec 360?

    Picked up a pair today that came off of a low hour Challenge car that met an unfortunate end. Challenge headers, test pipes, Capristo 3, Stradale MAFs, Gruppe M intake and a Mase reflash...should be interesting!!!

    Nope, cut out and rewelded the stock headers. no more precat issues.

    if add a bung plug to the back of the main cats to screw the 02 sensor into,

    its a $2 part but you need have a muffler shop or welder weld it in, set up just like a '99

    works fine

    For you folks who live outside California the sky is the limit on headers and pre-cats.

    The Dragon Lady is at every smog station here, and they check for pre-cats.

    Have not been to a smog station that did not know to look!

    So it must be in the station's smog software notes to look for the pre-cats M/Y 2000+

    Search Mullins Auto Parts eBay and they still have a few interesting bits up. Easy to work with when you finally arrive at the guy who is the buyer of the parts.
