I got 2 speeding tickets in PA this week on my way out to OH to drop my car off for work. I just looked and they were written 4 minutes apart. That has to be some sort of a record. 87 in a 65 then 85 in a 65. I knew they were close but thats ridiculous.

Staties set up a couple of miles apart all the time these days. It's the latest and greatest way to catch ya.

NORMALLY, you see the 1st one and slow down, then, feeling safe, you speed back up and run RIGHT INTO THE SECOND SPEED TRAP.

Now, in your case, you didn't see the first one, got written, didn't learn your lesson, didn't see the second one, and got nailed again.

Likely the first car radioed the second, and he knew you were coming.

What's that about $400+ in tickets?

They probably got a good laugh back at the barracks at the end of the shift.

My uncle in the UK got 3 in a day. He claimed that 2 of them were so close together they only counted as one (within 5 mins of each other) and they never noticed! Still, he had to pay for 2...

    Thats unfortunate!!

Last year at prom there were millions of cops everywhere just waiting to pull people over... they would sit in bk or mcd and nail you right when the speed limit changed from 35 to 25 (mind you this is a four lane road)

ridiclious? Try this, last summer I got a a $50 parking ticket that was issued at 8:54 pm and it wasn't a violation until 9pm.... I was pissed about that but on top of it the no parking ordinance wasn't supposed to be in effect until midnight that night. So not only was i not supposed to get a ticket since it was 6 mins early it was also no legal to give me a ticket since I was free to park wherever until midnight that day... I went and comlpained, they told me i knew better... thus im $50 pooer

Sounds to me like that is a loop hole type of way out.

"With all respect, your honor. We are to believe that an officer pulled me over, wrote me a ticket at 12:03PM, lectured me, told me I could go, gave me back my documentation which I had to refold and re store in my wallet, allowed me to start my car, safely merge into highway traffic. THEN--I was able to reach 85 MPH in traffic, have another officer get behind me, pull me over safely to the side of the road, run my license plate, get out of his cruiser and walk cautiously to my vehicle, ask me for my documentation which was stored in my wallet, allow him to walk back to his patrol car, run my driver's license, get a response THEN write me a another ticket."

And this happened within 4 minutes??

How could the information on this citation be accurate? With this being said, Is it a fair assumption that the tools used to issue this ticket were not accurate during the citation? How can we be sure the radar mechanism did not supply the inaccurate time as well as an inaccurate speed?

Id love to argue that one.

Was the officers name Lee Harvey Oswald? He he have a magic ticket book?

(I would stay away from the sarcasm, but you get my point)

    Chris,

    Have fun........

Prom night is a great night to let a limo driver drive and leave the worries behind. Usually a group can split the costs. I realize a little late now. Also, I think police and taxi drivers will provide free rides if drinking is an issue.

I picked up my car in Ohio last month. I drove back to Long Island at 85mph. Anything less I would have been run over by the hundreds of semis. Also watch out for deer at night.

Just drove from NYC -> KY for the Derby, and probably passed 8 - 10 troopers setup along the way...most in PA. I've gone weeks on the road without seeing a single speed trap, and to see so many in one 700-mile stretch was amazing. All but 1 were laser traps.

Only got nailed once (ha), but I was polite and he was nice and gave me a "failure to obey a traffic device" ticket for $100, no points. Not bad for 86 in a 65....

Hey John -- this is hilarious! Are you a lawyer? Sounds like a well reasoned argument. But I must say, I'm a lawyer and the one time I actually tried to use it in court to get out of a speeding ticket, I got my ass handed to me (then again, I guess I was still technically in law school then!) Sorry to hear about your 2 tickets Rob!

... was getting pulled over for 97 in a 65, in Texas, driving an f'ing Buick of all things. The cop was "nice" enough to write it down to 85 in a 70 so I wouldn't go straight to jail, but then made up for it by giving me directions which sent me 2 hours out of my way. ******.

Oh and this must not be the best thing to reveal, but I almost got in a wreck today in the 308 on the way back into NYC. Combination of my fault and the idiot in front of me. I was following a little too close on a road I didn't know (rookie mistake, I know) and lane just literally disappeared in front of me. Suddenly the car in front of me swerved and I was about 12 inches from a massive orange cone. I just barely missed it and the minivan to my left... Sucked. Safe distance everyone... keep a safe distance...

I just got home from a run out to Quakertown PA and back. I must say Rte 78 was severely patroled in PA. They were set up every few miles. Hard core enforcement inded.

Only once I was afraid the man nailed me... I was WOT and he was sitting in the center median grass in the dark. He shined the spot lamp on me momentarily but never pursued. The V1 never alarmed though.

Sorry to hear of your troubles Robbie... gorgeous day by the way!

rt 80 out to OH the first 180 miles into PA not 1 cop was doing 85-90 the whole way. Actually 2 different cops, dont think they radioed ahead. Its just no matter what tickets are written I'll never feel that doing 85 mph at 1700 rpm in 6th gear in a car that does 220 mph is dangerous or wrong.
