Hi all - great website - been lurking for a while but first post. Having just taken delivery of my 3rd black car (A Nissan GT-R, which joins a black E63) - I've decided to facelift my black Scuderia and create a wolf in sheeps clothing. Wheels will be changed, and a new body color chosen. I've had my eye on white - but didn't have the guts to spec it in Bianco from new. I'm also not a huge fan of Ferrari whites - Avus has always seemed too off-white for my personal liking. What has caught my eye though is the car attached. It is has exactly the color/stripe combo I'm after. I'm toying with adding anthracite Novotech split rims into the mix. My workshop has a couple of questions about Rolls Royce Arctic White before they start work - so if anyone with knowledge of this car - or spraying could help - I'd be really grateful. 1) Apparently there are two shades of RR Arctic White - any idea which one this is ? (apparently the last 6 digits of the chasis no. will help them track it down) 2) I'm also told that this paint is solvent based and presents health and safety issues for my sprayshop - anyone know if a water-based variant exists ? Alternatively, if anyone who is in touch with the owner could send me a PM with their email address - I would be grateful. Sorry for the semi-off topic post- but this color combo is under my skin now - and I want to try and get it sorted - and wasn't sure where else to go. Best, MF Image Unavailable, Please Login
First of all where are you located, second, if any shop I went to had questions about paint (and they were a paint shop), I'd run, not walk to another shop. I am sure there are many people here( including me) who can give you names of quality shops you can use, though I'm not sure why you would want to do something like this, but, hey good luck.
I'm in the UK - and they know that the car illustrated is a US car. Think they wanted to talk to a US counterpart to make sure they had exactly the right colour/paint before going ahead. They probably didn't realise I saw it on a forum
What about using a wrap instead of a re-paint? There is a company in the UK that have done a lot of cars recently and the results look very good. Think they are called Paintshield.
have you tried to contact the person who took the picture? Maybe has ties with the owner? Google his name and you'll see his info.
Wrap it. Save yourself time and $. Good choice on White. Here's my 'dream' scud with the photo slightly altered by me... Image Unavailable, Please Login
In my humble opinion, you'd lose more in resale if you re-paint the car (plus the cost of a good repaint) than if you would sell yours and buy a new one with the paint color you want. If you speak to Ferrari with $$ in hand, they'll match that color for you, no problem. Or, you could wrap the car for a couple G's and still own the black car you originally wanted and change it back at any point in time. Best of luck
I agree with the above...if you want a change of scenery, try a wrap...otherwise, consider just selling the black and buying the white one.

Don't paint it! Saw a CS that had been painted a different color than original... not good. I don't have a problem with the color you want, I just know this car looked great from 50ft and crap up close. Ruined this CS. You just can't get all the little bits properly without disassembling the entire car.
Thanks for all your replies and advice. Being a stubborn s.o.b - I went the respray/makeover route. I needed some paint work done due to stone chips and 2 car park/jealousy dents that couldn't be pulled. I also wanted to go the RR White route - thanks for the link ELIM. There simply aren't any cars in this colour to change into. A personal consideration was also this: I change my car every year, thus I always stick to the safe re-sale spec/colours. Therefore - I've never really owned a car with a customised spec - the way 'I' want it - but as a depreciation hedge. I've decided I wont be buying a 458. Fatherhood has reset my priorities. Thus, the Scud will likely be with me for a few years. So, I no longer care about depreciation - and instead want it 'my way'. Its quite liberating actually. Here it goes: Rolls-Royce Artica white Carbon skirts (new) Carbon diffuser, headlight pods (new) & front spoiler (new) Solid black stripe (new) New 5 spoke 20" Ferrari wheels Yellow Calipers, shields Pictures to follow.....

Congrats! You did the right thing IMO but stay away from crowded parking areas. Its funny the forum always speaks about after market effect on depreciation - yet I never see a Ferrari for sale with after marekt items.
I took a lot of advice before going ahead - much of it came from Ferrari. The colour & spec change had their blessing - so the log book, chassis records and everything will be updated. The colour will be classified as an official custom colour apparently - as though it was on the car from new. On my first visit to the Maranello approved workshop, there were no less than 4 enzos in there at the time having stripes, wheels or calipers painted. The place seemed like a Ferrari skunkworks. I felt like a 5 year old all over again. What Ferrari did push back on were the Novitec rims I wanted (ideally powdered black finish). They wouldn't approve their fitment - and persuaded me instead to go with their new Scud 20" options. So whilst the car has been 'aftermarketed' - its all Ferrari OEM parts, and approved paint.
Very nice! I agree, paint is the way to go. Some people would rather wrap it, I dont think it looks at good and the quality isnt as good either. Are you changing the exhaust on the car also?
Here is mine with black powder coated Novitec NF3's.Mama Mia I love that get to it attitude repainting the car http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=150&pictureid=2541
