Apparently a German show leaked next year's calendar:

    March 13, Bahrain
    March 27, Australia
    April 3, Malaysia
    April 17, China
    April 24, Korea
    May 15, Spain
    May 29, Monaco
    June 12, Canada
    June 26, Turkey
    July 10, Britain
    July 24, Germany
    July 31, Hungary
    August 21, Belgium
    August 28, Europe (Valencia)
    September 11, Italy
    September 25, Singapore
    October 9, India
    October 23 Japan
    October 30, Brazil
    November 13, Abu Dhabi

    Interesting to note:
    - Indian GP
    - Valencia back in August, stupid move
    - Turkey swapped with Monaco, even more stupid move (I'm glad I did it this year), probably chosen as a place holder for the 2012 USGP
    - Canada date

So I checked the Montreal hotel availability, but sure enough they already raised their prices or blocked the dates. But I still managed to find some, which haven't jacked up their prices yet. So hurry if you want in on it at normal rates.

Am I the only person who likes Australia as the 1st race of the season?

I kind of enjoy seeing 1 race out of the year where every team looks like a mess and I feel like in Bahrain it was just a parade around the new track that supposedly increased passing opportunites (when it clearly didn't).

Me too. When it was no longer the season-ender, I liked it as the opener.

I'm a fan of Australia too but I think that other circuits give a better idea how the new designs compare and that's always of interest at the start of the season.

From what I understand, Monaco is always a set amount of weeks away from Easter. Its date can always be calculated. It wouldn't be a swap with Turkey, per se, it would be that Easter falls later or earlier next year.

But I'm sure you would know that. Perhaps the person that "leaked" this calendar, doesn't have a clue. Don't tell me, it was Bild.

And I hope this is the real schedule, not a provisional, which comes out first and sometimes changes. If the US is going to replace Turkey it really makes sense to have it before Canada to try and take advange of what little temperature relief the extra two weeks could afford Austin.

    Oops, my bad, sorry Carol.

I don't think it is about Monaco's changing date but more about position Turkey into the US slot, so it can get axed after next year. For the spectators that means hell: June is when the temps start to rise. Oh wait, the same is true for Texas. Argh.

    No, wasn't Bild.
