The car has a CARFAX report from 2022 when a person hit the rear bumper at approximately 5MPH while vacuuming the car at the car wash. Zero structural damage and repaired perfectly by a certified Ferrari body shop.

Price is $139,000; greatly discounted due to CARFAX report.

Body shops don't report to Carfax. Insurance companies do.

    Nope.

Body shops do report to Carfax through their repair quote systems.

Punch the vin in... Which is required and make a REPAIR ORDER for a bumper. It can absolutely be reported in a Carfax as damage reported to front bumper.

    I've seen it

CarFax gets police reports. You can always tell the body don't report.

you can, but most don't think to, and then some body shops do anyway, because they've got a clerk who just does it, despite the writer telling them not to.

It's in their software. They don't pay someone to report it. It is literally built into the repair order software they have.

These companies data mine the hell out of everything

I understand about a lower price due to a Carfax report, but why that much less? It’s only a low speed hit in the rear bumper (nothing structural, nothing major).

Curious: do potential buyer really expect such a huge discount simply because of a low speed hit that changed nothing in the car?

    Yes. Absolutely.

Otherwise I'd just spend a bit more on a no story car. Add a story, add a big discount.

Yes. Diminished value is a real thing, even after repairs. The car will be harder to sell NEXT time, so you have to factor that into your purchase price.

I agree with you. My point was that a discount for such little incident should be less than that for a car that had real structural damages, as it seems to me IMHO that the offered discount is more what what it should be. Well, the price from the OP is great, the car should sell quickly (provided a PPI confirms the car is in good shape).

Great deal regardless of the minor issue. One of the best cars available for the $$$ right now anywhere. The Cali T with HS is leaps and bounds better than any other Cali including the base Cali T and you have to drive one to understand that. GLWS.

I think the bigger issue is post count, lack of response and no photos.

Clean CarFax means nothing btw. A small bump shouldn't make any difference, ahit happens to cars all the time and as long as it's repaired properly it shouldn't matter. I'm not referring to big accidents.
