TdF 0585GT for sale at Talacrest looks very nice. http://www.talacrest.com/Ferrari-Sales/Ferrari-250-GT-LWB-Tour-De-France/5980.htm# Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Completely agree. I like used interiors but that is just too much. It looks dirty, and I would make a face every time I would have to sit in that. Granted when its redone, its annoying for the first 5-7years until the leather starts to form and crease and then gets character. But then its great....
Steve, the talacrest TDF is stunning. I would repaint the car in another color and get rid of the stripes. And completely change the interior. But that is easily done. The shape of the car is to die for. Among the nicest Ferrari ever made....
And on what basis? Don't know the car, is it not like it was done originally? If it is the original scheme I wouldn't change it. Looks like a fantastic car, surely won't be cheap. Onno
Well choosing one color is difficult. But I could imagine: Yellow (fly gallo like 275) with black interior. I could also imagine a dark blue with tan interior. Also a nice grey would suit the car as well a cream/white color much like the recent car RM sold which was part of the Bardinon collection.... What would you chose?
I'd leave 0585GT as it is because part of its £4.7 Million GBP asking price must have something to do with its Herbie association. Change the colour and you remove that. I quite like the colour too. A TdF would look good in Giallo Fly with Black Leather, though not a light or pale yellow. I do like the stripes on a TdF. Dark blue would be good with white stripes and cream or tan interior. Grey, but with no stripes and black interior. Dark burgundy is nice too. Which was the Bardinon TdF? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I think the Herbie association is actually slightly negative in the sense that Ferrari should be associated with Films like Le Man. Herbie reminds me of that cute Beetle. I would change the color for sure. Both pictures are absolutely stunning for TDF. Silver with blue is just delightful as is the grey with Zurich Nr plate (I know I have seen that car live in Zurich before).
Yes, I think you're right about the Herbie thing. Amazingly one of the car's owner's abandoned it on the side of a Hollywood freeway in the seventies. The car was restored by DK Engineering. http://www.dkeng.co.uk/restorations/30/Previously_Restored_Cars/Ferrari_250_GT_TDF.html Barchetta info. http://www.barchetta.cc/english/all.ferraris/detail/0585gt.250gt.tdf.htm
If we're talking TdF's best colour, then I think 0925GT has got to be one of the most stunning cars ever. I had a short discussion with Mr. Massini on this car and he was raving about it (not just colour, provenance too). Considering the asking price of the Herbie TdF, the purchaser of 0925 got himself a decent investment at the Monaco auction 2010. What a car, particularly in real life. Onno- very much agree. This color is outstanding. What did it sell for? I will try and find the clip of the car on youtube.
Nice model of SWB Berlinetta Competizione s/n 2689GT (Comp/61), 3rd overall and 1st in GT class at Le Mans 1961. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zlW7oV0WSc&feature=related[/ame]
Beautiful colour, Onno. Ex Bill Harrah. Edmond, it fetched 2,401,392 Euros including buyer's premium. http://www.barchetta.cc/english/all.ferraris/detail/0925gt.250gt.tdf.htm
When 0925 was auctioned by RM in 2010 it only had done around 17500 miles. The engine had been previously rebuilt by Terry Hoyle and the rest of the car restored by DK Engineering. Image Unavailable, Please Login

An amazing car, 2689GT. Just love it. Some very nice articles on the car in recent years, particularly in Octane about 2 years ago. Onno
Yes,Giallo Fly is by far the best yellow of all. All other yellows are eather 'School bus yellow". "curb stone yellow" " to much green yellow" and so on. Once you see a good Giallo Fly there just isn't any other yellow. tongascrew
Edmond. Remember this car you liked, SWB 3657GT, and you posted the picture below. It's another car that DK Engineering restored. http://www.dkeng.co.uk/restorations/29/Previously_Restored_Cars/Ferrari_250_GT_SWB.html Image Unavailable, Please Login
What colour yellow is this TdF from 7.49 in the video below? [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGZ17HTXmtw[/ame]
I don't know who did the seats and door pannels but they look like something out of a street rod Chevy Impalla for sale at Barret Jackson. tongascrew
I've done a search for you but it's very hard to find the right issue. Unfortunately Octane magazine doesn't have a search facility for old articles, as far as I can find. I know I've got the magazine somewhere but unfortunately I've got more chance of finding a snow leopard in a blizzard after stumbling out of an igloo drunk and snowblind. Sorry! Onno
Maybe I found a snow leopard: this issue has an article on a SWB. Could be the one. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Octane-Magazine-Issue-86-August-2010-TVR-450-se-Lotus-Elan-s4-se-MGC-/120780931291?pt=UK_Magazines&hash=item1c1f1ac0db Edit: yes this is the one. http://shop.instant-shop.com/Octaneshop/product4730536catno20536.html D*mn I'm good.
