I have blue/biege on one of mine, it's really nice. Blue carpets complete and really accent the interior... But painting these cars is a *%^&%^!! I vote "drive it read for a while"........then decide.
+1 that blue is gorgeous. Congratulations on the new purchase. I was lucky enough to drive by a silver 275 GTB/4 on a great road many years back. The sound that came from the 275 was glorious. It was a day I will never forget. The 275 GTB/4 is very special car. It sounds like you are enjoying it very much
Car looks great (and hopefully feels) great! I think your car will look great no matter what colour it is, though, should you need to change it, I would advise against red. Something about the 275 makes it seem like whenever I have seen a picture in red I automatically think 'Wow, nice GTO mate.", whereas if it's in a colour other than that it is more so a "WOW! Nice 275 mate!". Drive in good haste! Michael.
Great to hear you are enjoying your car mate. That Rally would have been fun! That is also a gorgeous colour. I would paint it as it will have the original colour then. I hope you drive and enjoy the car for a while before you decide to take it off the road to restore it.
To me a no brainer: Blue/beige. It's absolutely beautiful. Red, not as much, plus there's a ton of red Ferrari's.
Today's market is more sophisticated and significant value is put on originality and provenance so yes back to original colours would be my view. Hopefully the days of painting Ferrari's 'retail red' to make them easier to sell are long gone. David
I finally bought a key lock for the steering wheel for the 275 in hoping that it would deter thief's. I think its working well however that thing takes forever to put on a old steering wheel which is much larger in diameter. BUT While fixing the lock, my key of the lock fell into the gate of the gear shift. Is that very bad for the car? Can I still go out and drive it? Many thanks for your help, Edmond
Unscrew your shift knob. Unscrew the two Phillips screws on the gate. Lift the gate up and out. Retrieve your key.
Thank you! Sounds like a good plan. Should be able to manage that. A Comtessa would suit a 275. Now I have to go out and find a nice one...first I will retrieve my key. Thank you.
Saran, You asked about returning to the original colors. I am completely in favor of returning cars to their original color specificatiions - interior and exterior. Jeff
If you want a good anti-theft device try one of these - http://www.hillengineering.co.uk/catalog/shift-gate-locks-c-21.html Discrete and effective You put the car into reverse and drop this onto the gear-lever gate and then lock it. I means ypu cannot move the gear-lever. I use them on my cars and they work great plus company owner, Paul Hill, is a real gentleman.
This sounds great. I just looked at it. Does this fit a 275 aswell? Thanks you for your help I appreciate. Buying from a Gentlemen always makes things nice.
I had a girlfriend like that once! Kept dropping her french fries between the seats. It least I have a snack when I cleaned the car!
The blue is nice, but unless the car needs paint now I would hold off until it really needs it and gather some chips, a respray color change will be a major undertaking and probably take a year to complete. When the car needs some paintwork I would change it back blue then.
So the time has come. The car has been dismantled and is in the process of being stripped bare in order to be repainted in the light blue Azzuro Salchi. I have also decided to do the interior in the original beige. I received an offer from a good firm here in Zurich for USD 45'000 but find this on the very high side. What is your opinion? What is reasonable to calculate when redoing the interior of the 275 GTB/4? Thank your help/ answers. E ps: This is what the car will look like once finished. Photo credit Bonhams.
