Hey guys, Anyone know of a 288 GTO floating around in perth? I just saw one go past my house in leederville. Black left hand drive. Lexan windows. Definately turbo.
Taken from 'the internet' so who knows: Ferrari 288 GTO spotted in Perth, Australia on 03/08/2013 quote: "Hi there, the car is a recreation of the 288 gto evoluzione, based on a 308 donor car and an f40 engine. all parts are genuine ferrari . the car was owned by a famous vintage car driver/collector Mr. John Goodman and was raced in the states.this is a racing machine and kept is original look as it was in the original scca log book! this is a not a show pony car but a purpose build racing car"
That's the car! I was highly doubtful that there was one in perth. But it looked like the real deal easier to do but the engine and mechanicals ppl don't normally go to that extent. Leading to my confusion
Definitly not all Ferrari parts, Car was originally built by Jim Carpenter on a 308, so wrong wheelbase and has a Porsche G50 gearbox. The engine is not an F40 engine but a 308 turned north south with twin turbos. It is a quick car and has had a fortune spent on it, but definitly not all genuine Ferrari parts
